Summary:

The Senior Writer works closely with the VP of Internal Communications, SVP of Communications, Communications Leadership Team, and the Executive Leadership Team to develop an executive communications strategy that supports our programmatic goals and priorities, operations, people, and the long-term change we are striving to make for animals. Operating within the Communications team, the Senior Writer will listen, learn, and build strong, collaborative relationships with executives, leaders, experts, and key stakeholders, teams, and individuals to develop and launch communications strategies and content that informs, inspires, and engages audiences to support our work, foster brand recognition, and aligns with our culture and values.  

The Senior Writer serves as primary writer and editorial reviewer of communications authored by or with members of the ASPCA’s executive team or other highly visible subject matter experts. They also write for and manage multiple executives’ communication platforms, research new topics, copy-edit and proofread material, and recommend creative ways to share stories and messaging through different internal and external platforms. The Senior Writer will write, review, or edit key messages, speeches, blog posts, content for videos, board and staff memos, social media posts, press releases, and official statements that highlight the impact of our work and staff in consistent and compelling way. 

The Senior Writer helps improve and elevate overall communications output for executive leaders, subject matter experts, and the organization overall by leveraging communications best practices and refining and evolving content including narratives and stories, key messages, speech content, and talking points for key internal and external events and forums. They also oversee or support special editorial projects and select editorial story production.

This is a hybrid in-person/remote position based in New York City. This position is expected to be in office 1-3 days per week, with flexibility needed for additional time on-site as necessary.

Compensation & Benefits:

Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of factors, including but not limited to education, training, experience, location, business needs, internal equity, market demands or budgeted amount for the role. The target hiring range is for new hire offers only, and staff compensation may increase beyond the maximum hiring range based on performance over time. The maximum of the hiring range is reserved for candidates with the highest qualifications and relevant experience. The expected hiring salary range for this role is set forth below and may be modified in the future.

The Manager of Digital Media Analytics’ core responsibilities are data analytics & storytelling, focused on but not limited to in-flight & post-sale digital campaigns. These data stories often are woven by analyzing raw reporting into insights & recommendations, within the context of driving revenue retention and growth. A strong campaign analytics manager can dive into ad performance, measurement, site & general market data across all phases of a campaign’s lifecycle to discover effective, actionable learnings.

Being able to manipulate raw data in Excel or other data visualization tools in discovering said learnings/recommendations is a critical skill of this role, but just as important is the ability to present these findings in clear, digestible formats to both internal & external clients.

This position sits on a centralized team but will be supporting the digital business through a verticalized approach – acting as subject matter expert across Dotdash Meredith’s Finance advertising vertical. This will require the candidate to work collaboratively across a matrixed organization, applying their knowledge of digital media analytics as both analyst & consult. They will be an advocate of the media learnings generated by this team for internal & external audiences. This includes acting as lead campaign analytics support across the Finance vertical’s high priority accounts.

They will also manage & mentor their direct reports on how to solve reporting, insights & strategy initiatives across their own book of business.

Essential Job Functions

60% Finance Campaign Analytics

• Lead analytics strategy in their own Dotdash Meredith vertical, working with sales & account strategy leadership in creating thoughtful client deliverables using performance, measurement or any other relevant data on insight discovery, upsells, and packaging – with particular focus on high touch, high priority accounts

• Define analytic & reporting capabilities across media products to internal/external clients + devise insight solutions and bring them to market

• Learn + work with multiple data sources/platforms used by Dotdash Meredith and our clients

• Potentially manage one or more direct reports, being responsible for all reporting, insights and analytical solutions coming from this analyst & their vertical

• Collaborate with our analytics team in Bangalore to scale larger data analysis initiatives

20% Case Studies + Ad Hoc Analysis

• Develop Finance sub-category, ad product based, and advertiser objective case studies to communicate Dotdash Meredith’s insights to current and potential clients to positively impact revenue retention & growth

• Act as subject matter expert on a set of sales verticals & ad products within said vertical

• Create internal-facing case studies & thought leadership, whose intended audience can range from sales to other analytic leads

• Filter research, site & other data findings and convert to actionable media insights in a well-packaged deliverable

• Support internal content strategy teams with campaign performance analysis to facilitate data-driven content creation

20% Team Management

• Partner with team management across other verticals to drive the vision and future roadmap of the wider department

• Act as first point of escalation in solving client & business issues in direct report’s verticals

• Lead vertical specific analytics projects from development to execution

• Ideate and execute on ways the entire campaign analytics team can positively impact new revenue with current and future clients

The Part-Time Credential Specialist is responsible for issuing credentials and accurately following basic administrative procedures for credential applications. This remote position has an 80% travel requirement, including weekends.
