Job Description
The Department of Humanities & Communication at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Daytona Beach Campus seeks a tenure-track assistant professor with a Ph.D. in Communication, Humanities, or related field. Applicants who are ABD with dissertations near completion and who are scheduled to graduate before August 2024 will also be considered. The successful candidate must have a record of productivity in scholarly presentations and publications that demonstrate the potential to sustain high-quality research in communication, rhetoric, film or media studies, multimodal communication, or the scholarship of teaching and learning.
Teaching duties, to begin August 2024, will focus on speech, with the expectation that the candidate will teach other general education courses such as composition, technical writing, and/or humanities, as well as contribute to a STEM-focused Communication degree program. Candidates must have a record of teaching excellence. Service responsibilities could include participation in departmental, college, and university committees and other activities to support the department. The first-year course load will be 3/3 with the expectation of active research.
In addition to offering general education courses in communication, writing, and humanities at a STEM-focused university, the department delivers academic programs in Communication and Interdisciplinary Studies, with minors in Humanities, Communication, Latin American Studies, Arabic Studies, Russian Studies, and Chinese Studies. The department has 35 full-time faculty members.

In their application letter, applicants should note their teaching experience, previous scholarly productivity, and plans for further development of their scholarship.
