What skills and experience we're looking for

Required for April (if not sooner), a committed, adaptable and creative Specialist Teacher to join our thriving Support for Learning team. The successful applicant will be experienced in working with children and young people with complex communication needs. You will be required to support students on both a 1:1 and small group basis to, in our purpose-built Inclusion Base, as well as offer advice to other colleagues and parents.

• support students to integrate and thrive in their mainstream lessons,
• communicate clearly with students, parents and other colleagues,

This role will involve:

• Teaching pupils with CCN/ASC individually and in groups within the provision as well as supporting the work students will carry out within mainstream classrooms.
• Carrying out detailed observations alongside, such as those used in the SCERTS approach/AET framework,
• Working alongside other professionals such as occupational therapy (OT) and Speech and Language Therapy (SALT) professionals.
• Working in partnership with other agencies (including OT, SALT, SENSS) to develop learning plans that meet the needs of the individual pupils.
• Working in partnership with class teachers to ensure the pupils are effectively included in mainstream activities as appropriate for each individual.
• Developing and creating resource materials to meet the needs of the pupils and oversee the ordering of resources if required.
• Ensuring that a robust assessment system, for all pupils, leads to personal educational programmes and appropriate improvement targets.

Weymouth College is a General Further Education College situated on the stunning Jurassic coastline in Dorset. We are an ambitious college offering broad learning opportunities to our students who are at the heart of all we do.

We are seeking an innovative, enthusiastic and dynamic person to join our high performing Media team on a fixed term contract until 31st August 2025.

Meeting the standards for teaching and support of learning in further education, the post holder will provide technical support to our Media team and deliver technical instruction or skills based training and demonstration.

The post holder will support, instruct and guide students, promoting a high quality training/learning experience for all students through demonstrable skills in camera equipment, lighting, sound and post-production software, reviewing and improving practice in line with student and manager feedback.

The post holder will be required to provide general technical support and housekeeping for the department, including the booking and dissemination of equipment as well as being responsible for the instruction and approval of risk assessments for student projects.
