Launching in 2025, TAF is a Singapore-based charitable foundation, dedicated to collecting, exhibiting and promoting modern and contemporary art from a Southeast Asian perspective. The Tanoto Art Foundation supports practices and initiatives that harness the transformative power of art, bringing together visionary artists and their ideas through exhibitions, commissions and innovative programming. Through knowledge building and resource sharing, the Foundation aims to facilitate and strengthen the development of the Southeast Asian art ecosystem, by connecting it across Asia, with South America and beyond.
Position Overview: We are looking for a Communications Manager to join our team and play a key role in building and maintaining our foundation’s introduction to the art community, and our ongoing public presence. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a passion for the arts, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to create compelling content that resonates with diverse audiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and Implement Communication Strategies: Create and execute comprehensive communication plans to promote the foundation’s programs, events, and initiatives.
Content Creation: Write, edit, and proofread engaging content for various platforms, including the website, social media, newsletters, press releases, and marketing materials.
Social Media Management: Manage and grow the foundation’s social media presence across platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.), including content planning, posting, and community engagement.
Media Relations: Build and maintain relationships with arts-focused media, bloggers, and influencers; pitch stories and secure media coverage.
Event Promotion: Collaborate with the team to plan and promote events, workshops, and other activities; ensure consistent messaging and branding.
Brand Management: Maintain and enhance the foundation’s brand identity; ensure all communications are aligned with the foundation’s mission and values.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
Education: A Bachelor's degree or higher in Art History, Literature, Curatorial Studies, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.
Background: The role requires a strong understanding of contemporary art and familiarity with art writing, which is often grounded in culture, history, sociology, and philosophy. This knowledge enables effective communication and a deeper understanding of the curatorial team’s concepts and the foundation’s mission and values, creating a positive impression within the art community. Ideally, the candidate should have an art theory-related background, with a communications background being a plus. Alternatively, candidates with a communications education background who have gained significant art knowledge through experience are also encouraged to apply.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in communications, public relations, or a related role. Experience in the non-profit sector and/or arts organizations is a plus.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in editing, communications, or public relations within contemporary art related organizations/companies, with a strong understanding of contemporary art discourse and familiarity with art writing. Published articles on art-related platforms are a plus.
Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in content management systems, social media platforms, and basic graphic design tools.
Personal Traits: Creative, detail-oriented, and proactive with a strong ability to work independently and as part of a team. Passion for the arts and commitment to the foundation’s mission is essential.
