What You Will Do:
Guidehouse supports programs and initiatives for an independent investigative and oversight body related to immigration detention issues. The Technical Writer/Editor will have the opportunity to help draft, edit, and support the creation of documentation and reports related to detention inspections. You should expect to have the ability to complete the following activities on a regular basis:
Developing, writing, and editing material for reports, manuals, briefs, technical specifications, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications that is compelling, easily understood by all end users, and compliant with agency policies such as accessibility requirements.
Creating, formatting, and preparing documents and presentations for executive-level leadership and public-facing. These deliverables may include technical topics such as inspection reports and evidence citation, compliance topics such as responding to Congressional inquiries or audits.
Working with inspections team to develop and define documentation requirements.
Proofing, standardizing, and editing documents written by peers and other writers.
Working closely with team members in coordination of deadlines and delivery schedules, including tracking documentation task completion and providing updates to senior leadership.
Supporting program management by designing, documenting, and improving business processes and workflows around documentation needs.
What You Will Need:
What Would Be Nice To Have:
Masters degree
Experience working with data sets, policy research and writing, and document analysis.
Experience supporting senior officials in government or industry.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills including experience developing Department-wide policies and communications, budget reports, and senior executive talking points or keynote addresses.
Ability to identify and address client needs, build solid relationships with clients and customers, and communicate with executive clients in an organized and knowledgeable manner.
A flexible, customer-centric approach to support rapidly changing business needs and new priorities.
Understanding of the inspections and evaluation principles outlined in the GAO Green Book
Familiarity with immigration detention environment
Familiarity with the Performance Based National Detention Standards (PBNDS)
Knowledge and experience with 508 compliance requirements.
