Title:
Technical Writer
KBR is currently recruiting for a Technical Writer to join our team at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD to support our customer, Project Manager Intelligence Systems & Analytics – Army (PM IS&A).
This position is contingent upon award.
Role and Responsibilities:
Provides technical writing support for program office.
Identify, plan, and revises technical writing project requirements and deliverables.
Works with program/project teams to develop various engineering specifications, field procedures, and software and hardware user documentation.
Organizes material and complete writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
Meets with various groups to discuss documentation requirements and gather data to be included in the documents.
Reviews government standards to verify and update documentation to conformance.
Tracks product updates and ensures that they are reflected in the documentation.
Participates in team meetings and contribute to the establishment of improved documentation processes.
Works with technical resources to improve document quality and usability.
Additional duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in English or related area required.
At least five (5) years direct experience of applicable military standards, specifications and test practices is required.
Eight (8) years of quantifiable technical writing experience may substitute degree.
Detailed-oriented with excellent technical, verbal, and written communication skills.
Experience must demonstrate the ability to conceptualize, format, structure, write, edit and finalize technical manuals, orders, specifications, modification work orders, and test plans, procedures and results.
Direct experience in writing, editing and managing technical documentation and operator/maintenance manuals for military systems and equipment.
An active secret level clearance is required.
