This is a fantastic opportunity to join the leadership team in Bristol Eye Hospital for a 12 month fixed term role or secondment. You will manage staff, performance and budget across numerous areas and gain substantial experience in all areas of a hospital. Bristol Eye Hospital has a busy Emergency Department, an Outpatient department which sees approximately 25% of all outpatients in UHBW, an inpatient ward, 4 operating theatres, a Clinical Research Unit and numerous off site locations including the awarding winning Assessment Centre. The service’s leadership has a truly multidisciplinary approach and is forward thinking and supportive in nature. There are many exciting projects to be part of including the refurbishment of theatres, pathway changes and the implementation of a new Electronic Patient Record. It is a fascinating role that will build your portfolio of skills and experience in all areas of management.
• Provide leadership and support for all staff in allocated portfolio of specialties
• Ensure the highest possible quality of patient care (clinical and non-clinical_ through the development of effective teamwork and in particular through the empowerment of the Lead Clinicians, Heads of Service and Senior Nurses (Matrons) and specialist nurses.
• Maintain and develop communication networks with key stakeholders , linking across Trusts/CCGs and all other agencies.
• Lead Job planning within area of responsibility jointly with the Clinical lead / Director.
• Maintain clear strategic direction for each clinical service that is both owned by all staff groups and consistent with the overall aims of the Division and Trust.
• Work with commissioners to plan, develop and provide joint services with multi agencies to maximise service effectiveness and efficiency.
• Participate in service development and the creation of robust service level agreements as part of the commissioning process.
• Contribute to the Clinical Governance Agenda and ensure that robust arrangements are embedded and maintained.
• Focus on addressing key workforce issues, including recruitment and retention, training and development and flexible working. This will involve workforce planning and role redesign to incorporate common core competencies and skills to meet changing multi-agency service delivery models.
• Ensure patients and user involvement in the evaluation and redesign of services
