To be responsible for providing professional and clinical leadership to the Speech and Language Therapy workforce within the Division contributing to the development of high-quality Speech and Language Therapy services through the Trusts professional and clinical governance frameworks, including the implementation of national guidance and leading on and promoting best evidence-based practice in Speech and Language Therapy to achieve clinical excellence and ensure the highest levels of clinical practice and professional standards are delivered. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES of the role include: 1. To provide clinical and professional leadership to the Speech and Language Therapy workforce and be professionally accountable for the planning and delivery of high-quality Speech and Language Therapy across the Division, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and efficient person centred care. 2. Provide visible leadership, lead and inspire the Speech and Language Therapy workforce within the Division and act as role model ensuring that the Registered and Support Workforce within Speech and Language Therapy are empowered to participate in and influence decision making at all levels. 3. To act as a clinical expert in complex cases and offer assistance in resolving complex clinical Speech and Language Therapy issues, alongside providing direct clinical care as a Registered Speech and Language Therapist. 4. To undertake specific specialised Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention as appropriate, identifying Speech and Language Therapy goals as part of the overall care plan to deliver and implement person-centred individual and/or group interventions, evaluating treatment to measure progress and ensure clinical effectiveness as appropriate. 5. To provide representation for Speech and Language Therapy and other Allied Health Professions in decision-making, raising awareness of the contribution of Speech and Language Therapy and promoting the role of Speech and Language Therapy within services and clinical teams. 6. To lead on a number of quality and clinical governance matters and initiatives within Speech and Language Therapy as directed by the Head of Allied Health Professionals and support the delivery of the Trusts Clinical Strategy and Quality Account which includes the delivery of Zero Harm Perfect Care Goals in the Division. 7. To contribute to the development of high-quality innovative services through the Trusts professional and clinical governance frameworks, including the implementation of national guidance and lead on and promote best evidence-based practice to achieve clinical excellenceand deliver service improvements in teams where there is Speech and Language Therapy provision.
