About the role:
As a Train Cleaner, you will play a vital role in offering a spotlessly clean train and a welcoming environment for all our customers. Not all of our roles are customer facing, we have station teams, TrainCare Centre teams (you'll be expected to be able to climb onto our trains from ground level), and on-board train cleaning teams, who all have pride in the service we deliver for our customers and colleagues, as we always strive for excellence.
Our trains and stations operate 7 days a week and we complete four different types of cleans within our teams in 24 hours, so it can be more difficult than you may think, you'll quickly hit that 10,000 step goal.
Day to day you will be cleaning on board our trains to ensure we continually deliver a hygienic, functioning, and welcoming environment for our customers. You don’t necessarily need cleaning experience, as we will teach you everything you need to know. The initial training is 1-5 days in the classroom (dependent on location) followed by practical and on the job training working with the cleaning team.
If this sounds like your thing, we’d love to hear from you.
Key responsibilities:
This is a varied and challenging role, but here is a taste of what your day-to-day activities could include:
Removing litter and emptying bins
Cleaning tables, windows, and touch points
Topping up replenishables in the toilets such as soap
It could also include dealing with any significant cleaning issues, which otherwise left untreated could cause a train service to be cancelled, such as blood or vomit spills.
