The General Surgery Department at Weston General Hospital, as part of the wider University Hospitals Bristol and Weston are looking for up to 1 new clinical fellow (ST1-2) to help provide high quality care for the adult population of Weston and the larger North Somerset area.

The department is closely involved in the ‘Healthy Weston’ programme and the development of ground breaking Same Day Emergency Surgery (SDEC) pathways, first class elective Day Case Surgery, and Endoscopy. We continue to provide inpatient colorectal cancer care, benign upper GI and post emergency admission care. We have excellent close links with Bristol sites for other visiting specialities, including Hepatobiliary and Oesphagogastric, Breast and Vascular teams.

To reflect the importance of SDEC the on call commitment is 1:8 covering day and nights shifts in a full shift pattern. These posts are integral to the working of the whole department, with close support and supervision from the consultant body. Flexible working patterns can be considered for the right candidate, reflecting the progressive nature of the department we are creating. We expect those applying for these positions to have equivalence of foundation training experience.

As a department of 7 substantive consultants (3 colorectal, 3 Upper GI, 1 General) we want to encourage applicants to these clinical fellow posts to develop professionally at the same rate as deanery trainees in the department. Our aim is to support successful applicants in their career choices, whether that is in gaining a formal training number or in gaining competencies that allow for a successful CESR application. Corewell Health Taylor Hospital is a 148-bed, Magnet®-designated hospital that is a recognized health care leader in the metro Detroit area. Proudly serving Taylor and surrounding communities since 1977, it offers specialty services that include 24-hour emergency care, wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, a surgical pavilion, a pain management clinic, orthopedic surgery, an inpatient rehabilitation facility and full-service radiology, including advanced CT with cardiac scoring, fixed MRI including pacemaker, cinema vision and ultrasound (MSK and elastography). 

GENERAL SUMMARY: 

The purpose of Environmental Services within Corewell Health is to provide our patients and their families a clean and safe environment. A Housekeeper II performs basic cleaning tasks in order to maintain an aseptic, clean and attractive environment for the hospital, while interacting with patients, visitors and other Hospital staff. The following description of essential duties are intended to reflect the major responsibilities and tasks of the job, other responsibilities may be assigned as needed. 

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS:

Education / Training:   

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred

Other Qualifications: 

• Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately. 
• Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals. 
• Ability to read and follow instructions.
• Ability to demonstrate Corewell customer service standards and behaviors in all aspects of job performance. 
• Able to become proficient in all aspects of the position, with department provided training within 30 days required.   

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:

• It is essential that a Housekeeper II be able to comfortably interact with our patients, families and visitors. Presenting with a warm smile and friendly demeanor, enabling our visitors to feel welcomed and cared for.
• Cleans patient rooms daily. Sanitizes all vertical and horizontal surfaces, spot wash walls and windows, removes trash and linen (where required), completely cleans and sanitizes restroom, dust mop and damp mop.
• Cleans ancillary areas such as, nurses’ stations, med rooms, pantries, clean and soiled utility rooms, storage rooms, waiting rooms, locker rooms, break rooms, offices and other areas not specified.
• Housekeeper II’s will be assigned to clean specialty areas not limited to but including OR Suites, Pre Op and Post Op areas, Emergency Department, Intensive and Critical Care Units, Labor Delivery Units, Pediatric Units, Mental Health Units, Oncology, Radiology, Labs, Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy, Geriatrics, Kitchen areas and more.
• Housekeeper II basic tasks include but are not limited to cleaning and sanitizing all surfaces, vacuuming, dust mopping, damp mopping, low dusting, high dusting, stocking supplies, removing trash and soiled linen, delivering clean linen (where required). Will be required to complete miscellaneous tasks as assigned.
• Housekeeper II will be required to use appropriate chemicals and guidelines when performing tasks. Attendant will be properly trained on required tasks and provided with tools to perform assigned duties.
• Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
