This position prefers candidates with a legal background. The incumbent is required to design a comprehensive curriculum for structured training, encompassing both legal and non-legal content.
Responsibilities:
- Industry engagement and outreach to promote SAL’s role in learning and professional development within the legal industryRaise awareness of and promote adoption of a skills framework for the legal industry
- Build strong relationships across the academic and industry community to understand emerging adult learning needs for legal professionals
- Evaluate market demand and industry landscape to inform research and innovation priorities
- Conduct research and analyse research findings to recommend organisational policies and plans
- Conceive and present plans to key internal and external stakeholders (such as other training providers, government agencies, funding agencies, educational institutions and business associations, both local and international) to influence acceptance or adoption and create collaboration opportunities
- Support learning and development initiatives for the legal industry spearheaded by other stakeholders
- Contribute to the development, maintenance and update of a skills framework for the legal industryEngage industry and stakeholders to understand and validate the competencies needed for various job roles within the legal industry
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders and partners for development of the skills framework
- Assist in drafting materials for the skills framework in accordance with relevant standards, e.g. Skillsfuture standards
- Contribute to the design and execution of online and face-to-face (including blended) structured training programmesIdentify learning needs and programme objectives
- Identify and assess suitable training partners where applicable
- Create curriculum design specifications with relevant subject matter experts or training partners
- Define desired user experience journeys for learners and recommend appropriate learning delivery modes, appropriate learning activities and potential applications of learning technology
- Contribute to the development of courseware materials and accreditation and certification models to ensure alignment with curriculum objectives, the skills framework and other stakeholder requirements (e.g. continuing professional development frameworks, funding agency requirements, etc)
- Plan and execute structured training programmes
- Evaluate effectiveness of programmes to guide future curriculum and programme planning
- Support specialist accreditation programmes and activities
- Administer and support SAL’s specialist accreditation schemes, including application and selection processes, training and development programmes in specialist areas,
- Assist in the design and establishment of new specialist accreditation schemes for various practice areas
- Engage with accredited specialists to understand their needs and obtain feedback on how to enhance specialist accreditation programmes and other SAL products and services
- Organise engagement and networking activities and administration of other benefits for accredited specialists
Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree from an approved university with at least 8 years’ experience in a law firm, legal department, or legal academia / learning and development, or equivalent. Law degree preferred.
- Master’s degree or other professional qualification / certification in education or adult learning, or equivalent experience, would be an advantage.
- Experience in developing competency frameworks, planning curriculum and designing/managing learning and development programmes would be an advantage.
- Able to build positive and productive relationships with colleagues and other stakeholders. A mature network of contacts relevant to the role would be an advantage.
- Experience in designing or managing WSQ or Skillsfuture-funded courses, or in building and managing training partnerships preferred.
- Sound financial management skills and commercial awareness preferred.
- Appreciates and comfortable using a range of technologies relevant to the role.
- Able to read, speak and write English with advanced fluency.
