The successful candidate will be required to carry out phlebotomy, blood pressure readings, pulse checks, ECG's, basic wound care and urinalysis. The role will include undertaking patient health checks and supporting the Practice Nurses with health promotion programmes.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Junior Clinical Fellow (FY2-CT1) to work as part of the General Surgical team at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, based at the Royal Blackburn Hospital site. This post is fixed term for 24 months starting in August 2024.

The post holder will assist in providing a clinical service in elective and emergency General Surgery to the population of East Lancashire and the adjoining areas.

The post holder will be expected to provide a patient centred service, respecting the privacy, dignity and choice of individual patients.

These posts are ideal for candidates who have completed Foundation training or equivalent and are seeking further surgical training, working closely with the STs/Senior Clinical Fellows and under the supervision of the Consultants.

The roles include out of hours work on the on call rota which is a full shift system. It covers General Surgery emergencies but there is also some cross-cover with Vascular, Urology and ENT at Junior Clinical Fellow level as part of the Surgical Out of Hours Service (SOS).

The roles are primarily ward based however include the opportunity to assist in theatres along with general and specialist out-patient clinics.
