In this Local Hire (Logistics Specialist) position, you will provide subject matter expertise in logistics operations.

Typical assignments include:

• Reconciling items accurately including bill of lading, shipping documents, inventory lists, and property transfer reports.
• Loading and unloading trucks and assisting with the maintenance of the facilities.
• Submitting requests for supplies, equipment, personnel, teams, services, or commodities using FEMA-approved systems.
• Tracking requests, monitoring and placing orders, tracking shipping status, and reconciling discrepancies as directed using FEMA-approved systems.
• Receiving, inspecting and distributing equipment and other materials to proper recipients while maintaining accountability.

Local Hires are Temporary Positions. The Local Hire Program is an appointment type granted under the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act, Section 306 (b), which authorizes FEMA to appoint such temporary employees as necessary to accomplish work authorized under the Act. Appointments under this authority within FEMA are made to the excepted service and are nonpermanent in nature. A local hire's term of employment is 120 days. Local Hire appointments may be extended, in 120-day increments, based on the needs of the disaster.

As a Logistics Administrator you will be responsible for providing an excellent level of customer service and the administration for allocated key accounts within the warehouse

Role of a Logistics Administrator:

• Responsible for data entry, updating systems, and maintaining accurate and organized documentation
• Coordinate transportation details and advise appropriate departments and teams on any delays or problems
• Report and provide the correct documentation for shipments to customers
• Resolve customer queries and complaints, following an escalation process as needed
• Liaise between hauliers and customers, providing excellent customer service
• Be aware of the requirements and conditions concerning the transportation of Hazardous Materials/Dangerous Goods Classes (internal and external DG training provided)
• Monitor performance of parcel carriers and escalate discrepancies in a timely manner
• Cover other Administrator roles during their absence

• Collate and present KPI data as requested by the management team.
