Our NEPTS is available for patients who cannot travel to or from our hospitals using any other method of transport because of their medical or mobility condition, or because their medical condition would otherwise worsen. Quality Assurance: Oversees the administrative and clinical aspects of a major specialty treatment program, for quality assurance in RCS. Ensures clinical quality assurance utilizing various clinical modalities and evidence-based practices. Reviews and evaluates Vet Centers at least annually. Establishes and tracks developmental objectives to guide the team in improving services to Veteran clients.

Clinical Crisis Management: Develops, reviews, and analyzes a clinical crisis reporting system that accurately tracks critical incidents to improve Vet Center services. The individual collaborates and coordinates with VA entities to facilitate and ensure that a Mortality & Morbidity (M&M) quality review panel is conducted when Vet Center clients die by suicide. Ensures the Peer Review protocol process is completed at Vet Centers when the outcome of the Self- Directed Violence Assessment tool indicates a suicide attempt. Utilizes administrative and clinically qualitative outcomes to further educate staff.

Staff Development and Education: Ensures that the clinical staff in their respective RCS Zone is adequately trained to address the needs of Vet Center clients. The individual also ensures staff is kept abreast of clinical issues or evidence-based treatments. Assesses the educational developmental needs of the clinical staff. Responsible for monitoring licensure of all eligible clinical staff in consultation with Deputy District Director and Staffing, to ensure compliance. Outreach: Monitors Vet Center outreach activities are strategically planned and adjusted to ensure market penetration of the local eligible individuals' population. FUNCTIONS OR SCOPE OF ASSIGNED DUTIES
1. Incumbent must be able to independently implement the recovery model of treatment. The incumbent will carry a caseload and develop treatment plans, and will utilize the initial assessment to mutually develop treatment goals with the Veteran and guides the plan of care towards meeting those goals.
2. Requires a high level understanding of treatment coordination and discharge planning, working within the VA system to assist Veteran in re-engaging in their community of choice upon discharge. Provides ongoing treatment coordination services from admission until discharge coordinating closely with the entire treatment team.
3. Provides treatment coordination to a caseload of Residential Veterans. Daily 30 minute group treatment coordination meetings for assigned caseload. Meets individually with Veterans on assigned caseload a minimum of once every other week.
4. Provision of a minimum of 5 group hours a week and supplemental individual sessions as needed and recommended by the treatment team.
5. Incumbent is able to coordinate community-based services, including information and referral for additional services from other VA programs, other government programs and community agency programs.
6. Independently identifies high-risk patients. Provides crisis intervention services, seeking to address the cause as well as the presenting complaint, coordinates family conferences and serves as liaison to family members. Has working knowledge and experience in use of medical and mental health diagnoses, disabilities and treatment procedures. This includes acute, chronic and traumatic illnesses/injuries, common medications and their effects/side effects, and medical terminology.
7. Establishes and maintains effective therapeutic relationships with Veterans and their families. Incumbent is able to independently work with patients and families who are experiencing a variety of psychiatric, medical and social problems utilizing individual, group and family counseling and therapy skills.
8. Independently provides consultation services to other staff regarding the psychosocial needs of Veterans and the impact of psychosocial problems on health care and adherence to treatment plan.
9. Ability to evaluate incumbents own practice through professional peer review, case conferences and other organizational means. Incumbent is able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with people from varied backgrounds.
10. General knowledge of Veterans' benefits and services relating to special programs, service connected compensation, non-service connected pension. Facilitates referrals based upon Veterans needs and eligibility.
