Duties described below are at the highest grade advertised. Duties assigned at lower grade levels will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee.
Manage projects, develop test systems, and/or test aerospace materials as a project manager, general/aerospace/electrical engineer, or physical scientist in areas like facility systems, facility and test infrastructures, and space flight hardware.
Generate and apply theories, principles, practical concepts, processes, and systems related to engineering design, standards, codes, and techniques in support of a variety of Center Infrastructure, Program projects and NASA’s mission.
Provide oversight of on- and off-site contractors’ performance to ensure contractual obligations are met and government resources are expended in an economical and beneficial manner.
Oversee the design and execution of complex projects with multiple subsystems, services, capabilities, or products that support NASA functions, programs, or projects.
Use established criteria and professional judgment to modify or design, construct, and utilize laboratories, facilities, equipment, or processes to support Center program and Agency goals.
Serve on teams of multi-disciplined, cross-organizational, and complex design, construction, fabrication and testing projects utilizing traditional engineering science disciplines (e.g. mechanical, electrical, materials, industrial, and chemical).
Perform multiple functions which may include, planning, research, design, development, test and evaluation, cost analyses, program, and project management.
Handle environments of rapid change, hazardous conditions and competing priorities rationally and quickly.
