An Oxford College are looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join the Estates Team to ensure that all buildings, properties, and gardens are maintained to the highest standard. You also need to maintain and keep in good working order all mechanical, heating and hot water services to ensure that all facilities function as effectively as possible and remain a safe place for our membership and community to use.

This position has some parking, but you must have a driving licence to travel to and from the 2nd site in the company van and you also need to be flexible to be on a weekend call out rota system for emergency's 1 in 5 weekends and live within 30m mins of Oxford City Centre.

Key Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager as well as acting independently where required, respond to maintenance issues raised by students and staff. Plan work in an efficient way and prioritise tasks appropriately. Typical jobs include plumbing repairs to heating and hot and cold-water systems, basic carpentry to failed doors, windows or furniture, replacement of faulty white goods and appliances, clearing blocked drains or showers.
Planned Maintenance:
Participate in, and lead where appropriate, small upgrade projects to the College buildings and accommodation. Tasks may include small plumbing upgrades/modifications, building stud partition walls and fitting new doors, room redecoration work or kitchen fitting.
Routine Activity:
Participate in routine work such as meter readings, top up/monitoring of water softener equipment, changing extraction filters, Fire Alarm testing and checking lifts and elevators. Support the Maintenance Manager to keep up to date records of maintenance work completed in these areas.
Grounds Maintenance:
Undertake appropriate seasonal grounds maintenance such as lawn mowing, hedge trimming, weeding as required at the main College site and the off-site houses around the city.
Essential Skills:

• Good all-round general knowledge of building maintenance related activities and practical experience in carrying out this type of work
• Good understanding of Health and Safety legislation relevant to this position.
• Physically fit enough to meet the demands of the job.

Desirable Skills:

• Plumbing experience and knowledge of commercial and domestic heating and hot water systems.
• Good general handyman and caretaking skills.
• Garden maintenance experience.
• Relevant H&S or First Aid training (job specific training can be provided).

Maintain stock within all production areas, re-order as required and control stock rotation. Demonstrate work activities to untrained staff when qualified. Responsible for data entry onto computer, to maintain records of instrumentation within the department (tracking and tracing). Complete own time sheets and other work records as required. Undertakes surveys and audits (i.e. cleanliness and work required) where necessary within own work and written guidelines. Test decontamination equipment according to relevant HTMs on a daily bases. Work within well established procedures following guidelines for good practice with supervision available for reference. There is a requirement to stand while carrying out duties in all production areas; with a frequent requirement to exert moderate physical effort whilst unloading and loading trolleys into the washer disinfectors and sterilisers. Concentration is required at specific times during the decontamination process to produce correctly laid-up and packaged surgical instruments. Frequent exposure to body fluids and care is required when dealing with contaminated sets due to the presence of sharp instruments when working in the decontamination wash area. To carry out the receipt, disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, packing and sterilization of reusable medical devices. To undertake medical device decontamination duties (under supervision) and assist Supervisors in providing a specialised medical devices decontamination service contributing to the clinical care of the patient.

We are looking to recruit one full time Sterile Services Technician to join our team at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Sterile Services Department. This is a busy unit based adjacent to the Operating Theatres responsible for the decontamination of surgical instruments for use in the main Operating Theatres, plus WW and WC Operating theatres, and some wards and departments.

You will be required to undertake tasks associated with the cleaning, disassembly, checking, packing, sterilization and movement of surgical instruments to ensure the safe reprocessing, and distribution of products for use in theatres and other clinical departments.

You will follow written instructions, use specialist machinery and electronic tracking systems in the accordance with departmental guidelines. You will comply with the requirements of quality systems, as stated in ISO 13485, Medical device regulations plus all other relevant standards.
