What will you be doing as an Apprentice Grounds Maintenance Operative?
As an Apprentice Grounds Maintenance Operative you will learn all about what it takes to make sure our customers’ communal areas and green spaces are maintained to a high and safe standard. You will produce work of the highest quality while providing excellent service to our customers, clients, and your team.
As part of this apprenticeship, you will learn how to carry out a range of high quality horticultural and grounds maintenance work in an efficient and productive method. The work will be varied and interesting and you will have the support of a mentor throughout your apprenticeship.
At college, you will study the Horticulture or Landscape Construction Operative Apprenticeship standard at Level 2 by attending Riseholme College or similar provider one day a week, alongside learning and working with experienced operatives during the rest of the week.
On successful completion of the Level 2 Apprenticeship, you will be able to apply for any related job vacancies within PPC. If you gain permanent employment with PPC you will continue to be supported in your learning and development. PPC has a strong track record of offering permanent jobs to its apprentices once they qualify.

Grade 4 or above GCSE or equivalent in English would be desirable
Grade 4 or above GCSE or equivalent in Maths would be desirable
Some things you need to know
The team is based in Newark so you would need to live close by
This is a Level 2 course lasting 2.5 years
You would work an annualised contract working a 42.5 hour week working Monday to Friday in the Summer Season and a 32.5 hour week in the Winter Season. Due to the work pattern applicants would need to be aged 18 or over.
Ideally you would need to hold a full driving licence but this is not essential initially but the role is mobile so would be required to be achieved
