DT Food / Science Technician - full time post (Term time) to cover 2 days in DT Food and 3 days in the Science Dept
DT Food Technician - 2 days· Mondays & Fridays DT Food Technician role · Work independently and coordinate duties with other DT Food Technician. · Work with Head of Technologies to meet teaching & learning and Health & Safety requirements. · Work with DT Food teachers to meet their teaching & learning and Health & Safety requirements. · Support pupils during DT Food lessons to help meet their learning needs. Responsibilities · Ordering necessary goods to keep the dept running efficiently including regular food & stationery orders. · Follow Faculty Knife Policy. Support teaching staff with Knife Policy. Ensure all knives are locked away. · To follow Health & Safety directives. · To carry out tasks necessary to comply with Health & Safety directives, including writing risk assessments. · Keep the Food Prep Room area tidy and organised. · Some printing involved as directed by Teachers. · Pupil Premium: - Support PP pupils with pre-ordered & provided ingredients. Weigh & prepare for each student. · Follow procedures for entering diary dates showing what will be cooked so that foods can be ordered. · Shop for ingredients. · Complete PP administration on a weekly basis. · Work with the Finance Department for PP & all ordering. · Provide practical lessons with correct equipment in advance of lessons. · Where necessary, use the washing machine to uphold standards of hygiene & cleanliness. E.g. wash aprons & cloths · Regularly check kitchen workstations & re-stock as necessary. · Clean & check fridges – Daily Temp needs to be recorded / Dispose of any food waste. · Clean ovens on a rotational basis to support periodic deep cleans. Person Specification · Experience of working as a Food Technician would be an advantage. · Evidence of commitment to professional development, including training as a technician if required. · Thorough understanding of Health and Safety procedures, especially as they relate to work in the specific environment (e.g. DT Food Rooms) · Excellent subject knowledge and effective organisational skills · The post-holder must be committed to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of young people and to demonstrate this commitment in every aspect of this post.
Science Technician - 3 Days Work with or as directed by the senior technician • Prepare materials and equipment for practical work on a daily basis (experience of laboratory work would be an advantage) • Ensure that practicals are delivered to the correct place at the correct time and that they are tidied away afterwards • Keep the Prep Room and Chemical storage areas tidy and organised • To keep up to date with the CLEAPSS guidelines for Health and Safety and to work within these directives including the safe disposal of chemicals and biological specimens, in addition to supporting the department with working within these directives. • Monitor and maintain stock control, requesting orders for replacement as necessary liaising with the Head of Department and Senior Technician to do so.
