About the role
SIGN-ON BONUS: $2,500 Sign (1/2 after 30 days, 1/2 after 90 days)
As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will be responsible for the planned, unplanned, and preventative maintenance tasks required to ensure safe and efficient operational effectiveness of equipment and systems which enable Covanta’s industrial disposal process.
Position Responsibilities:
Effectively complete preventive maintenance tasks per maintenance schedule to prevent breakdowns of equipment and operational downtime
Inspect and adjust the mechanical alignment of pumps, replace and/or rebuild pumps, fan bearings, motors, and conveyors; Rebuild or change gearboxes
Install and modify pipelines, and assist in the modification and addition of plant projects
Read blueprints and P&IDs, and perform welding in SMAW,GTAW, and GMAW
Utilize root-cause analysis skills to investigate breakdown and line stoppages collaborating with various teams and stakeholders
Prioritize work to ensure timely maintenance, repair and installation of equipment, tools, and utility systems to minimize production downtime and complete all required paperwork and documentation in the company’s computerized maintenance documentation program
Utilize Covanta’s defined maintenance documentation program to open and close out work orders, check out spare parts, and other activities as required in the plant.
Repair and/or maintain the operating condition of industrial production or processing machinery or equipment including inspection, assembly, disassembly, and replacement as necessary
Observe and evaluate the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions utilizing mechanical devices
Inspect operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational and safety performance standards.
Preferred Skills (but not required):
Mechanical fabrication
Perform welding in SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW
Hydraulics and/or hydraulics troubleshooting
Machinist and/or lathe skills
Insulation installation and removal
Millwright
Position Requirements & Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred
Valid driver’s license
A minimum of 1+ years of experience in a heavy industrial/manufacturing environment
Must have the ability to work a rotating shift schedule, to include nights, weekends, and some overtime, as needed
Physical Demand of the Role:
Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb
Ability to lift/carry 50lbs
Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces
Qualify to wear a full-face respirator
Consistently work in various weather conditions
