Job Description:
This Field Service Technician role requires a proven track record in programming, teaching and troubleshooting equipment incorporating robotics and robotic arm installations from suppliers such as KuKa, Fanuc, Yaskawa and ABB, etc.
This position will require excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to be applied in programming and troubleshooting of Robotic packaging machinery and line control systems as well as specific experience with Allen-Bradley (ControlLogix, PLC5, SLC500) and/or Siemens S7 PLC’s, PanelView Plus HMI’s, Industrial Communication Networks (Ethernet IP, ASI, Profibus), Indramat Servo Drives (Indra Drive, CS). The technician must understand and analyse advanced machine motion and operation controls and have an advanced understanding of VFD functions, operations, and programming. Advanced understanding of pneumatic and electrical Schematics and troubleshooting is required.
The role will include site start-up support of integrated packaging equipment for the consumer products industry. This position will involve working in customers' manufacturing facilities worldwide , alongside working in our Bircotes, Doncaster location on the design, build and testing of equipment prior to shipment. It requires extensive travel and substantial lifting, climbing, twisting, kneeling, etc.
Qualified individuals must have the ability to work independently and within a team environment, and must be accountable when working remotely while accurately and efficiently working towards projects or assignment deadlines and goals. Holiday and weekend work is routine for the Field Service Technician.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Support and promote good teamwork across the entire company, and act in line with the company’s policies and values.
Completion of I/O checks and troubleshooting of system wiring.
Conduct site surveys & participate technical meetings on customer sites.
Robot, PLC (including safety) and HMI Programming – Siemens, Rockwell & others as applicable.
Ensure that all relevant project documentation is updated with as-built information after completion of technician’s intervention.
Participate in Internal and Customer PDI’s
Sign Off equipment and projects as complete. Confirming that they are fit for purpose, complete and tested
Start up, commission and fault find equipment on our customers sites and support them remotely as required
Supervise contractors working under the company’s scope of work.
Provide training to customers operations and maintenance staff.
Ensure that the latest version of the equipment software is uploaded and identified on the company network
Ensure that assigned tasks are completed within agreed timelines and in a cost-effective manner
Ensure that expense forms are completed, and receipts uploaded to finance monthly
Ensure that assigned work areas are kept tidy, free from hazards and always customer ready
Comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, current legislation and BWIS company policies & procedures
Prepared to travel when required both Nationally & Internationally which could be at short notice
Be available & have flexibility to work overtime on evenings and weekends when it is required
Attend training courses to support your duties and development. Which may not be held at Doncaster and require travel both in the UK or overseas
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
3+ years’ experience in Robotic Systems, ideally in the packaging industry
Education in a relevant engineering discipline to HNC / HND qualification
Software design & Rockwell / Siemens PLC, motion and servo control systems experience would be beneficial
Excellent interpersonal and time management skills to deal with the response time pressures that can arise due to the nature of this industry
Ability to convert verbal, written, and other media-based information into project documentation
Excellent computer skills, being proficient in Microsoft Office packages such as Excel, Word, and Outlook etc.
The ability to simultaneously organize and successfully execute multiple project responsibilities.
A self-starter with a ‘can do’ flexible attitude.
Ability to work as an individual or as part of a team.
