Our Client designs and manufactures bespoke GRP Kiosks / Housings and a wide range of industrial GRP composite structures.

Hours: Monday - Friday day shifts: 7am-3.15pm (6am-4pm when busy)


Pay: £11.44ph


Temp to perm contract providing you meet the performance and job spec criteria.


The ideal candidate will have a building or carpentry background and be happy with heavy and physical work, however this is not essential and full training will be given.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

• Screens all calls and either routes them to their destination or takes appropriate action to fulfill the request of the caller. Ensuring that accurate and timely communication is facilitated and that the department is presented in a positive manner.
• Knowledgeable of all emergency procedures outlined in the EPM. Implements proper action in drills and actual disaster or emergency situations. Files incident report following activation of these procedures. Reads the EPM and initials quarterly.
• Is aware of security procedures to: ensure appropriate physical access, system/network access, and process/data integrity. Identifies areas where existing security policies and procedures require change or where new ones need to be developed.
• Employee is proficient with all computer applications required and used in the Communications Center environment and is able to effectively utilize the applications on a daily basis, as well as for special projects upon request.
• Employee is knowledgeable of all departmental equipment including alarm panels, hearing impaired/language line phones, and Zetron computer. Has the ability to understand equipment readouts, relay pertinent information, and perform other routine tasks.
• Knowledgeable and can perform the intake of repaired, returned, new or loaner pagers from vendor and properly documents, copies and processes all required steps to the process including notification to using departments.
• Coordinates courier or other various services as necessary in a professional and courteous manner. Ensures proper documentations of request and action is taken.
• Is flexible in work and break scheduling to optimize departmental support to the organization. As needed, responds to after normal working hours; to monitor, respond to, and remedy problems or emergency situations that may occur.
• Provide support to the organization, division, and peers as a critical function of all IT professionals. Support includes day-to-day peer level support, emergent after hours support, and any support required to maintain highly reliable IT systems.

The Operations & Maintenance Chief Operating Engineer is part of our P3 Building Technologies & Solutions business at Johnson Controls. This position will be located at the Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital. 

What you will do

Reporting to the Customer Business Manager, the Chief Operating Engineer is responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the Central Utility Plant (CUP), HVAC, air handling units, emergency generators along with various other critical building systems at a Hospital in Vaughan. The facility is managed by Johnson Controls Canada LP, and is a P3 environment.

How you will do it

• Monitors and oversees Steam Boiler Plant, Chiller Plant, Emergency Generators, HVAC, AHUs and Medical Gas systems.

• She/he oversees a team of Operating Engineers that are unionized.

• Provide leadership and mentoring to all front line team members within the business unit

• Implements operational and preventative maintenance plans for the Utility Plant, which support Hospital operations and reduce risk.

• Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations, standards and Hospital policies.

• Identifies ongoing energy conservation measures and undertakes measures to operate the plant within predetermined energy targets.

• Provides recommendations to senior management on emerging technology, trends, legislative changes and industry best practices.

• Establishes and monitors annual goals and objectives to ensure ongoing improvements in customer service, operational efficiency, cost effectiveness, safety and compliance.

• Regularly interacts with approved consultants, suppliers and service providers.

• Coordinates contracted services and manages a variety of projects pertaining to building systems and the Central Utility Plant.

• Respond to emergency or demand phone calls 24/7 that are escalated by a team member on shift or hospital leadership.

• Ability to share on-call 24 hour status with other managers, as may be requested or required

• Being prepared to cover shifts in the event of an absence or illness.

• Investigate, prepare data and provide a presentation to hospital leadership where a failure condition exists, or where the hospital feels JCI has not meet their contract obligations.

Principle Responsibilities

• Provides maintenance and repairs to building structures, building systems, and equipment contained therein.
  • Service, repair, and maintain refrigeration and HVAC system.
  • Service, repair and install piping, fixtures, fittings and associated hardware for compressed gasses, vacuum, steam, potable and non-potable plumbing systems.
  • Do electrical replacements, repairs and maintenance of electrical equipment.
  • Report hazards and/or potential work hazards in our facilities in order to prevent injury to self, peers, patients, and visitors.
  • Maintain record of all inspections, testing and repairs to comply with regulatory and insurance agency requirements.

Job Requirements

• 2 to 5 years of experience in refrigeration cycle, electrical knowledge, welding, HVAC, pneumatic control experience and fire system preferred
