The role

Based at our client's site in Exeter, you will be responsible for the safe loading, sorting, and unloading of scrap metal, ensuring high standards of housekeeping. You will work under the guidance of a knowledgeable and supportive Site Manager.

Key accountabilities

• Safely load and unload vehicles.
• Stockpile various grades of scrap metal and assist with ship loading/unloading.
• Store materials in accordance with company policy.
• Complete daily checks and attend training courses.
• Coordinate with team members to process loads correctly.
• Inspect dispatched scrap materials.
• Process materials to meet grade specifications.
• Schedule inward and outward transport.
• Liaise with customers, drivers, and contractors.
• Maintain a clean and tidy working area.
• Work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
• Perform additional duties as required.
• Comply with all company policies related to conduct, environmental, health, safety, and community standards.

Skills & experience

• Experience with 360° Material Handler/Wheeled loading shovel is a plus.
• FLT licence is advantageous.

The role involves working a continental shift pattern working an average of 42 hours per week. This involves working 4x12- hour days then 4 days rest, then 4x 12-hour nights then 4 days’ rest.

We are looking for a motivated Packing Machine Operator to join our team. The role involves extensive manual handling which includes moving pallets of cards/envelopes around the machines. Lifting products including cards/envelopes and rolls of film into high speed machinery that will convert into finished products. Basic computer operation to understand product information and instructions related to products being produced.

Health & Safety rules must be adhered to along with the daily house keeping all supported by a daily time sheet that must be completed by each operator at the end of each shift

Role Responsibility

• Communicating with colleagues
• Understanding and acting on instructions from the departmental supervisor
• Follow the daily machine plan to ensure maximum efficiency is obtained and the daily targets are achieved
• Manual handling (with the aid of manual pallet trucks)
• Mechanical knowledge for basic machine repairs and size changing of machine
• Basic computer skills to produce product labels and to obtain instructions related to product information
• Total awareness when of the environment when machine is in production due to high running speeds of equipment

• Removing litter and emptying litter bins at regular intervals as demand indicates
• Removing small amounts of graffiti, fly post removal, trimming or removing weed growth and cleaning public toilets or car parks, as necessary.
• Undertaking basic condition inspections of facilities and reporting any obvious maintenance issues.
• Identifying additional reactive work for specialist teams such as grass or hedge cutting, maintenance tasks, mechanical sweeping, tree work, large-scale graffiti removal, hot wash, etc

We’re looking for dedicated and motivated individuals to join us as Machine Operators at cardfactory. You’ll support the department in delivering the Shift, Daily & Weekly customer requirements (known as the plan), and actively promote a positive Health, Safety & Quality culture, ensuring compliance with legislation to meet business Health and Safety standards.

Please note, this role will involve shift work Monday-Friday on either of the below patterns.

• Early Shift: 5.50am – 1.30pm.
• Late Shift: 1.20pm – 9.00pm.

Role Responsibility

• Supporting colleagues across the packing department, to ensure the plan is delivered, aswell as ensuring the delivery of departments daily workflow demand and department KPI’s/Metrics.
• Assisting with the delivery of all H&S requirements and legislation ensuring all safety guards and checks are completed.
• Supporting with all relevant “Asset Care” duties (Autonomous Maintenance, Machine Audit, Etc) to the agreed standards and timelines.
• Taking ownership of the line maintenance & set up procedures, particularly where improvements can be made.
• Operating the machines to achieve maximum performance top achieve customer demand and priorities.
