Transport Operator AM - 14:00am-22:00pm shifts available

Role Purpose:
Working within the Transport department to service the Distribution Centre network along with Superdrug and Savers stores, the Transport Operator plays a key role in helping deliver the BEST; the right product, in the right place at the right time at an unbeatable cost through a skilled and committed supply chain. We manage our own fleet and onsite driver agency provider, covering the operation 24 hours 7 days a week working closely with the Transport Planning department to achieve our KPI’s. This role will report to the Transport Team Leader.
A typical day in this role includes:
You will ensure all drivers are issued with correct delivery instructions and activities, de-brief drivers after every trip and deliver feedback to the appropriate department
To optimise all resources available
Working closely with the warehouse operations function ensuring seamless loading and despatch procedure
Liaising with the planning team and provide information and recommendations where required
Provide constructive feedback to the driver management team on performance and behavior of drivers
Ensure vehicles and trailers are kept within service schedules, booking all required maintenance and repairs with the relevant workshop
Utilise the administration procedures accurately and in a timely manner, including all KPI support information
Provide a first line of contact with stores in the event of schedule changes and daily issues
To provide an effective shift handover to the incoming team
To engage in a co-operative and positive culture within the Distribution Centre and the wider business
To support colleagues, Team Leaders and Transport Manager where required

What you’ll need:
Previous experience within a transport environment including managing drivers is an advantage but not essential
Good understanding of cost accountability
Excellent communications skills
Flexibility and reliability
Able to work within a team as well as on own initiative
Customer facing exposure
