A mechanical manufacturing firm in Oxfordshire is looking for a Production Quality Engineer with technical knowledge in production, mechanical products and quality assurance experience along with experience working with SAP and 8D.
Responsible For:
Management of all quality-related issues within the manufacturing team
(e.g., internal and customer warranty)
Identification of the root cause of production quality issues and the implementation of permanent corrective actions, preventing the compromise of quality standards; driving continuous improvement.
General Description:
To provide effective quality control from goods inwards inspection throughout production process by ensuring that the capture, reporting and resolution of all quality related non-conformities is undertaken in an efficient and timely manner.
Maintaining and updating the company Quality Assurance database (NCR) with the overall target objective of reducing both internal and external non-conformities.
Liaising with the supplier quality engineer and other stakeholders to communicate quality defects affecting production, with timely resolution. Providing QA data to support implementation of corrective actions with the support of the manufacturing engineering team.
Skills and Attributes
Self-motivated with excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to work independently and as well as part of a team to achieve targets. You will have a keen eye for detail which will enable you identify potential quality related issues. Strong leadership qualities with perhaps aspirations for management. Working closely with Purchasing, Production and Technical depts, you will apply a systematic approach to clearly communicate quality information and work with manufacturing engineers to resolve quality related issues.
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant manufacturing/engineering /science degree preferred, or ONC, A Levels, BTec.
- Minimum of four years previous experience in similar QA role within a fast-moving production environment.
- Strong technical knowledge in the marine, aerospace and or automotive industry (preferable but not restricted to). Strong ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
- Strong experience of product inspection advantageous.
- Internal auditing experience plus qualification.
- Membership of professional body would be advantageous.
- Professional qualifications would advantageous.
- Computer literate in MS Office and Adobe software as well as SAP.
- Experience using SAP is advantageous.
- Experience with QMS procedures and good understanding and experience of robust QA procedures.
- Problem solving skills such as 8D.
- Strong knowledge and application of FAIR, PPAP & FMEA.
- Knowledge of AS9100 (preferable but not restricted to), minimum knowledge of ISO 9001.
- Understanding of ISO14001 and Health and Safety practices
- Strong process mapping experience and writing of work instructions.
- Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment.
- Strong Planning and prioritising skills with methodical approach.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to present data effectively, with excellent analytical skills.
- Strong Problem-solving and team working skills.
- Understanding of cost and financial impacts
Hours are Monday - Friday 8.00am - 4.30pm with some flexibility, competitive salary of c£43k, Bupa Healthcare, contribution pension and free parking on site.
This is not a hybrid role and is based in Oxfordshire and due to the location you need to drive.
