We pride ourselves on investing in the future of our Oshkosh North facility to make employee’s lives easier and provide long term stable employment, and ensure we are positioned to meet or exceed the needs of our customers. 

With our wide range of products produced at this site, such as convenience food packaging and lawn care packaging, we have increased product demand with our plans to expand and grow our workforce in our Converting, Press and Slitting  departments. Oshkosh North has all four business processes allowing us to take our raw material/resin pellets, melt them down and create rolls of film which are printed on, cut/slit to meet customer specifications, and then we convert those rolls into bags and packages; completing the final product.    

We are investing in our plant through: state of the art equipment, improving our production flow and efficiencies, increasing our workforce and providing focused training, and open and honest communication to create ONE engaged Oshkosh North Team.

SHIFTS AVAILABLE:

• 2-2-3 shift schedule 12 hours rotating biweekly from days to nights

COMPENSATION: $24.17/hour + $1.20/hour night shift premium available + 1.5x pay on Sundays!

These positions are on a rotating 2-2-3 12-hour shift schedule, where employees will have every other weekend off. Work just 3 or 4 days a week and shift schedules provided a whole calendar year in advance! Overtime available after training is complete.

WHAT EXTRUSION ASSISTANTS GET TO DO:

• Assist operators will aid in  all aspects of operation of Tuber  lines including change-overs, machine start-up, running and shut-down.
• Support operations in becoming World Class in all aspects of the business, beginning with Safety. 
• While also knowing and understanding the role in product safety.
• When qualified will operate Tubers when an operator is absent, or on vacation.

​WHAT LAMINATION ASSISTANTS GET TO DO:

• Obtains Job Jackets and reads job specifications to determine cores, adhesive, and other supplies needed by the operator for each product produced.  Review production schedule to assure correct materials are available.
• Assists machine operator in setting up machine, start ups, shut downs, etc.
• Maintains material inventory to ensure sufficient  materials are available.
• Label and return material to inventory.
• Learn to operate the machine and serve as backup operator when operator is away from machine or on vacation.
• Label boxes, cut cores when needed, band header pallets when necessary.
• Adheres to plant housekeeping standards, including specific department requirements:  sweeps floor, recyclables, empties garbage, and keeps area clean. 
• Maintains cleanliness of the glue deck area.
• All other duties as assigned by management and supervisors

WHAT PRESS ASSISTANTS GET TO DO:

• Assist press operator by providing support during setup and operation of Flexographic Press
• Check viscosity on each press deck
• Color matching
• Assemble blade chambers
• Assure that all jobs are run in accordance to all written specifications including manufacturing specs, customer specs, print specs, color folders, and standard operating procedures
• Make sure all materials including inks, stock, cylinders, gears, cores and aniloxes are ready for next job

The packer position is responsible for the packing and wrapping of finished products, in accordance with client packing specifications. The packer is also responsible for the movement of materials within the department and for storing or staging materials in designated areas.

WHAT CONVERTING OPERATORS GET TO DO:

These positions are on a 2-2-3 rotating or straight nights 12-hour shift (5:00am – 5:00pm / 5:00pm – 5:00am), where employees will have a three day weekend every other weekend.

• Work, act, think and converse in terms of improving quality and elimination waste in his/her process department.
• Stop any operation that is not producing product to customer expectations or is in violation of approved quality and safety procedures.
• Must be able to safely and efficiently set up and run a bag machine.
• Must be able to manage machine output in regards to handling, packaging, and shipping preparations for finished goods.
• Must be able to read and understand all phases of a production order and customer specs.
• Must be able to perform rework functions and internal and external goods.
• Must be able to work overtime as needed and maintain attendance in accordance to company policy.
• Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Converting Manager, and/or Operations Manager.

WHAT WE WANT FROM YOU:

• Previous manufacturing experience and/or machine operating experience
• High School Diploma/GED equivalent preferred
• Knowledgeable and able to understand a computer and programs
• Possess adequate math, measurement, and reading skills

• Ability to use basic hand tools, tape measures, calculator, hand truck, chain hoist, roll banding tools, scales and tape dispenser
• Good organizational and interpersonal skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL ADVANCED MANUFACTURING POSITIONS:

• Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50-65 lbs.

• Frequent use of wrist and hands

·         Verify Purchase Orders have been received and allocate part numbers and stock items

·         Evaluate and plan authorized purchases and receipts for specified stock and non-stock items

·         Negotiate pricing as needed for coating materials

·         Communicate stock availability, lead time and expedites to Customer Service team and other departments as needed

·         Evaluate, track and record OTIF information

As a press or lamination operator with Amcor, you will be given the opportunity to continue to develop your skills further on the job. Press operators will operate the Rotogravure 10 color press in a safe and controlled manner that will ensure the safety of others and quality of products being made. Lamination operators will operator the various laminators for running jobs efficiently and safely while maintaining quality products for our customers.

3rd Shift: Sunday-Thursday (10:00pm-6:00am)

2nd Shift: Monday-Friday (2:00pm-10:00pm)

• Prepare press for jobs by having trolleys, ink and coating ready to go into press

• Set and monitor color, register and repeat lengths according to customer specifications
• Distinguish quality colors while running job and setup
• Troubleshoot web handling and printing problems
• Setup and run adhesive laminator as needed to meet quality and production requirements

• Load and unload cylinders
• Inspect quality and identify and correct defects
• Troubleshoot equipment and production issues
• Follow documentation procedures and ensure paperwork is complete

Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Machine Operator to join our Amcor Appleton team. As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining various types of machinery to produce high-quality products. This is a great opportunity to work in a dynamic manufacturing environment and contribute to the production of precision components.

Shift Schedule:

• 12-hour 2-2-3 straight nights

Compensation:

• Starting pay between $23.41-$24.59/hour (based on experience)

• $1.20/hour night shift premium available + 1.5x pay on Sundays!

Purpose:

• Operates machine and packs to slit continuous lengths of material such as foil, paper, or plastic film into webs of specified width by performing the following duties.

Duties:

• Spaces shear or razor blades on machine mount, according to width specified on job jacket for webs, and turns setscrew to secure blades in position.

• Mounts roll of material on machine supports and threads material over tension bar, between feed rollers, and under shear or razor blades.

• Tapes end of slit material around take-up cores. Starts machine and observes flow of material through machine to detect irregular cutting and winding. Uses switches or push buttons to stop, start, and regulate speed of machine and to align material with shear or razor blades.

• Disengages winding shaft and removes rolls of material.

• Monitors and maintains quality by removing flagged defects and looking for unflagged defects.

• Completes production report.

• Performs standard quality assurance tests and others as required on job jacket.

• Performs Packer and Roll Doctor duties when needed.

• Follows all applicable instructions.

• Adhere to Good Manufacturing and Prerequisite Program requirements to ensure safe food packaging.

• Adheres to established power lift truck rules and guidelines.

• Inputs necessary data into the computer.

• Run the machine safely

Prepare the changeover (e.g., documentation, materials and tooling for set-up, including mixing the ink)

• Run the machine and make adjustments to ensure a high quality production (e.g., cleaning the machine and the work area, making ink, filling the hoppers, etc.)
• Move pallets in and out of the production area. Forklift license preferred

• Ensure the quality of the product and the satisfaction of the customers
  • Perform quality control checks, complete the related documentation. Inform the Production Manager or Quality Manager as necessary
  • Perform daily cleaning and maintenance of the machine
  • Sets labels and stickers accordingly to the procedure

• Participate in production improvement
  • Record box production and waste
  • Participate in weekly production meetings
  • Report safety concerns

Title:        Machine Operator
Reports:    Production Supervisor

SUMMARY
Performs repetitive production and packing operations to mass process products such as plastic bottles.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.    Employee works from a production schedule located within the work area.
2.    Randomly checks product produced every hour, to ensure the customer specifications are met.
3.    Monitors flow of product into processing machinery.
4.    Tends machines, such as palletizers, case packers, injection machines and box machine to maintain product flow.
5.    Works at different workstations as production needs require.
6.    Works on lines where tasks vary, as product of various shapes and sizes move along lines.
7.    Check finished product for possible defects.
8.    Wears all required personal protective equipment.
9.    Assures and participates in all plant safety/accident prevention policies.  This includes maintaining a safe work environment and follows safe work practices.
10.    Maintains housekeeping of work areas.
11.    Follow all HACCP, GMP and Product Safety rules and guidelines.
12.    Train current and new members of the department to perform job related tasks as needed.
13.    Learn new on the job skills as training opportunities become available.   
14.    Any other tasks that may be assigned.
15.    Must attend monthly shift meetings 6am for day shift or 6pm for night shift.

About the Role

The Shift Floater position will support Blow, Injection and Packaging Mold Machine Operator employees and could be responsible for the operation of multiple blow and injection molding machines and vision systems using written work instructions and computer interface. Requires a general understanding of overall manufacturing processes and the ability to understand and follow basic good manufacturing practices.  Qualified candidates are responsible for starting and maintaining machine operation with a complete and overall understanding in the assigned area of responsibility.

• Responsible for ensuring that all machines within the scope of responsibility are kept running and producing quality bottles while insuring the least amount of down-time possible.  This includes communicating problems to on-coming shift personnel.
• Responsible for completing all mold changes and set-ups.  Minor maintenance activities are required.
• Demonstrate organizational ability to complete daily clean-up assignments, and adequately maintain good housekeeping throughout the entire area of responsibility.
• Directly responsible for the proper support to Injection Machine Operators and all other team members to ensure a positive team environment.   
• Checks and monitors quality on all assigned machines by understanding and recognizing all visual quality defects and how to make appropriate adjustments to correct quality defects.
• Maintains all required documentation of quality checks and testing, process checks, downtime, housekeeping and data entry.
• Displays a full understanding and working knowledge of all related software and other equipment required for efficient production of quality product.
• Follows all established safety rules and guidelines as outlined in the Amcor “No Injuries Safety Contract” and as trained.  Understands and communicates all hazards and safety issues to co-workers and Supervisors.  Properly uses all required personal protective equipment.
• Performs other related duties as directed by the Production Supervisor or Lead.
• Product Safety regarding cleanliness and notification of any observations that may create a product safety risk to our customers.
• Immediately report any unsafe acts, conditions or accidents in their departments.
• Take reasonable care for self and others to prevent injury.

About You

• Education:  High School Diploma or GED          
• Previous Blow Mold or Injection Mold training/experience preferred, or experience in manufacturing processes with demonstration of mechanical aptitude
• High attention to detail and product/process quality
• Ability to manage time independently and complete tasks in a fast-paced production environment
• Must be willing to work any shift and overtime as required

Salary is between $22.90 and $25.80 depending on experience.

Machine Operator II – Entry-LV4: One-Step Department

Salary Grade:  Hourly

Basic Function:

Safely and effectively operate one-step equipment (including Nissei and related machinery) in accordance with production requirements.  Incumbent will ensure production of a high quality product in accordance with customer specifications. 

Essential Function and Responsibilities:

• Ensure that all assigned machines within scope of responsibility are kept running and are producing quality products.  This includes but is not limited to Nissei and related machines.

• Check and monitor quality on machines as required.  Recognize visual quality defects and make necessary adjustments to correct problems.  Alert appropriate personnel to quality problems.  Use Customer Profile to ensure that finished product is made to specifications.

• Quality checks are to be completed every hour on all products running production as laid out by the quality department.  They must be completed on time and every shift.

• Troubleshoot problems as they arise.  Communicate machinery and equipment problems to supervisor and/or maintenance personnel accurately and in a timely manner.

• Maintain cycle time checks on machines as required.  Maintain machine set-up sheets.

• Utilize, maintain and monitor orderly process, maintenance and machine reference logs/books.  Record daily production numbers and enter information into SAP.  Process production tickets and correct tickets as required.

• Utilize Levels Program to increase technical skill, knowledge, and to cross-train on all Nissei machines and related equipment as part of normal job progression.

• Complete daily log of activities in a timely manner.  Record and maintain information regarding equipment downtime.

• Make boxes in accordance with production requirements.

• Provide oversight to packers in area and ensure that packers perform required quality checks during packaging.

• Move materials as required using proper equipment including forklift and pallet jack.

• Assist personnel on preventive maintenance activities.

• Clearly communicate relevant information to oncoming shift personnel, supervision, maintenance and other personnel as required to ensure optimum operation.

• Maintain a safe and clean work area in accordance with Company standards.

• Follow all work instructions and job duties in order to produce the best possible product, in the most efficient way possible.

• Follow all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) as documented in the policy.

• Follow all established safety rules and guidelines as outlined in the Employee Handbook, and as stated in the various safety-related training programs.  Understand and communicate all hazards and safety issues to the appropriate personnel.  Properly use all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

• May perform other related assignments at the direction of supervision.

Reporting Relationship:  This position reports directly to the shift Production Supervisor.

Education/Experience:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the essential functions.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform essential functions.

Education & Experience:  High school diploma or equivalent required.  3-plus years prior experience operating equipment in a manufacturing environment desired.  Prior experience with plastics manufacturing operating one-step or injection machinery is preferred.

Interpersonal Skills:  Good written and verbal communications skills are required.  Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.  Incumbent must possess effective teamwork and interpersonal skills.

Technical Skills:   Incumbent must be capable of learning and successfully applying SAP system, FMS, CDM Apriso and Customer Profiles.  Must be able to quickly grasp operation of relevant equipment and possess the ability to troubleshoot problems on such equipment.  Incumbent must be able to complete required 8-week training programs for Nissei and Husky and demonstrate proficiency at appropriate levels.

Other:  Incumbent must possess a high degree of attention to detail.  Must be capable of working safely and effectively in a fast-paced, high-quality manufacturing environment.  Incumbent must have the ability to interpret and carry out instructions, including Work Instructions, Master Process Book and SOP’s.  Incumbent must possess basic mathematical skills.  Must be able to provide a tool box and basic tools.  Must be able to work a 12-hour shift schedule.  Incumbent must be willing to demonstrate schedule flexibility as business needs require as well as for coverage for vacations and other absences.

Physical:  Must be capable of standing and walking on production floor for length of production shift.  Will be required to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally.  Must occasionally squat, bend, kneel, reach, etc., in order to carry out essential functions of the position.
