The Finance team are part of the Council's Resources directorate, working as business partners to the rest of the organisation. About the team

The Greener Futures Team has a crucial role in supporting the commitment of the Council to reduce CO2 emissions in Surrey to net zero by 2050, and to achieve its organisational net zero target by 2030. The Strategic Energy Team has been highly successful in obtaining grant funding and securing internal budgets, and despite being a relatively new team it has already seen multiple projects from ideation to completion. We are now creating a solar division within that team as the SCC's solar portfolio is expected to grow exponentially over the next years.

About the role

As a Solar Technical Project Manager you will be providing technical, project development and management support of SCC's solar energy portfolio, including solar rooftops, carports, small ground-mounted and solar farms. These projects will be primarily in a variety of council-owned buildings (such as fire stations, libraries, offices, schools, etc.) and in council-owned land. You will also support solar projects in other public buildings, not owned by the council (potentially hospitals, universities, etc).

This is essentially a technical role, responsible for:

• Identifying opportunities for solar projects
• Undertaking or reviewing feasibility assessments

• Supporting procurement processes and programme governance

The Role:

• Pitching and increasing the market share for the business in their respective market, this is currently dominated by clients in the midlands, and your role will be to develop the south.

Reporting to the Cost Planning Director - our client are seeking an individual who can demonstrate a stable employment track-record working for UK main contractors/developers - working across a range of project sectors.

Duties Include

• Production of Client's Budgets.
• Produce and develop detailed Cost Plans.
• Attend Design Team meetings.
• Produce and issue Tender Documentation.
• Analyse Tender returns and prepare reports to Clients.
• Implement and manage both Single Stage and 2 Stage procurement processes.
• Develop Value Engineering processes with the Client and Design Team.
• Prepare contract documentation for projects.
• Produce Client Cost Reports.

At Cennox we are excited to be recruiting for a Finance Business Partner to join us as part of our new vertical finance reporting structure. This position will be based from our head office in Camberley but will require some occasional travel as you will be supporting our teams in Europe and USA. You will be working in a hands-on environment with a busy and dynamic team of Management Accountants.

The main responsibility of this post will be to take ownership of all financial aspects of our Irish business as well as some of our UK divisions. You will be supporting the contract teams, preparing monthly management accounts, reporting on performance against budget and forecast, as well as working with the unit heads to update forecasts and prepare annual budgets. We are looking for someone who is proactive who will analyse and investigate costs and identify improvements.

This role works in harmony with our sales and purchase ledger team to ensure unison with cost coding's, and interaction with our project managers ensuring that financial information is up to date. You will be required to challenge margins and advise on additional billing opportunities so you must be versed at dealing with senior stakeholders from a non financial background and be a strong character with the ability to build cooperative working relationships. This position requires you to have strong numerical and analytical skills and work well under pressure. The right candidate will be flexible when working to deadlines associated with month end and ad hoc projects and be prepared to go the extra mile to complete deadlines. You will need to work well under pressure, maintain confidentiality and have excellent accuracy and attention to detail.

• An experienced Business Finance Partner or commercial Management Accountant used to working in a dynamic business.
• CIMA/ACCA qualified.
• Demonstratable experience of larger business accounts (over £25m turnover)
• Strong Excel and technical accounting skills.
• Good working knowledge of UK GAAP
• Strong character and ability to build cooperative working relationships with senior non-finance stakeholders as well as other members of the global finance team.

• Strong numerical and analytical skills

Salary £50,000 - £60,000 is on offer depending on experience, plus benefits.
