Your new role
As an Engineering Maintenance Planner, you will be the principal contract and liaison between the maintenance department and operational planning. You will ensure the area, department, or facility you are assigned receives professional maintenance service in a timely manner, ensuring high equipment availability and performance. You will review planned work requests, determine their validity and accuracy, and engage with the appropriate resources to set priorities. You will ensure adherence to internal and external legislation and completion of all statutory maintenance tasks.
You will identify and source all parts and materials required to complete tasks, provide stores with requisitions for work orders, and any special kitting information. Accurately and consistently inputting data into the CMMS (SAP), you will be a competent SAP user and provide up-to-date yearly resource plans and bottom-up budgets. You will advise managers and supervisors on workload, labour requirements, spares availability, and the ability to meet work deadlines.What you'll need to succeed

• Strong technical ability (electrical or mechanical), ideally gained within a heavy engineering environment.
• Minimum HNC (or equivalent) in either electrical or mechanical engineering.
• Strong team working skills and the ability to influence.
• Excellent communication skills and confidence in presenting relevant information to all levels of the business.
• The ability to create and deliver efficient and effective engineering plans.

Strategy Development

Adopt the role of LSTM’s trusted REF (Research Excellence Framework) advisor, providing professional management of REF submissions and all subsequent exercises, including supporting the leadership team with the development and implementation of REF strategies.
Analyse, interpret and adopt external guidance and policy, highlighting potential risk and exposure of the organisation and developing appropriate mitigations.




Research Environment & Strategy

Lead regular dialogue and liaison with department heads, global hubs, faculty members and international partners to understand the research needs of the academic community
Develop and implement effective research horizon scanning, intelligence gathering and a strategic funder engagement approach.




External Engagement:

Support the Head of Research Strategy & Knowledge Exchange and senior academics to represent LSTM at relevant national and international forums related to research and knowledge exchange excellence, sharing best practices, and establishing collaborative networks.
Contribute and quality assure information/data returns for relevant Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), including developing local processes to gather appropriate information.



The successful candidate will bring:

Main duties
The successful management of the development, design stages, delivery and handover of projects as instructed, ensuring:


- Processes and procedures are applied, and any governance protocols followed
- A project management plan is developed and maintained for each project
- Projects are scoped in accordance with agreed project objectives,
- Deliverables are clearly identified and executed,
- Key parameters of cost, time and quality are achieved providing a coherent and realistic action plan against deficiencies,
- Liaise with the projects H&S&W and CDM Representative, acting on advice provided to ensure that project / contractor CDM and Health and Safety compliance matters are satisfactorily discharged and/or adhered to,
- Establish effective stakeholder and communication management processes and structures across the project, Client and stakeholder teams, undertaking stakeholder mapping and understanding the role of project influencers, developing strong working relationships where appropriate. Specifically consider all necessary actions in terms of liaison, process mapping and reporting with statutory and technical assurance bodies, mitigating potential delays and costs to project performance through timely submissions and consenting requirements,
- Liaise and work across all commercial, procurement and general project control functions, providing the necessary project management input to deliver projects within the agreed project parameters,
- Assess the necessary level of resources and competence in the supply chain teams, taking all necessary reactive measures where required to ensure the required performance,
- Successful administration of the NEC suite of contracts for professional and contractor commissions as dictated by the projects, addressing performance to ensure contractually successful outcomes.

- APM qualification
- Experience working on large scale transportation projects
