An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Transport Planner within the Highway Development Management Team at Leicestershire County Council.
About the Role
To provide highway development management advice to ensure effective transport assessment and input throughout the development process, including managing a case load of predominantly minor sites and supporting the Senior Transport Planner on more complex sites.
To assist with the provision of effective transport input on pre-application enquiries, outline planning applications, reserved matters applications and planning appeals as necessary.
Engaging in effective negotiation to secure highways and transportation mitigation for development proposals including through Section 106 discussions and identifying other funding sources as appropriate.
To support effective partnerships and working relationships with statutory, voluntary, private agencies and communities.
About You
To apply for this post, you must have:
- HNC/HND/NVQ4 in relevant subject (e.g. Civil Engineering or Transportation), or
experience of working in Highway Development Management or land use planning.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Experience of interpreting and writing technical and non-technical reports.
- Effective negotiation with internal and external organisations, such as developers or Local Planning Authorities.
- Experience of conducting packages of transport analysis or assessment work.
- Knowledge of the planning process as it relates to highways and transportation.
- Be able to work to tight timescales and to agreed targets.
