Job Purpose
The Senior Director of Digital Strategy leads the Corporate Strategy function for the Alcon Digital Health organization, develops long-range investment plans, monitors the competitive landscape, makes data-driven recommendations on digital program choices, and ensures alignment between digital product roadmap and the Global Franchise.
Essential Job Functions
Strategic Planning and Business Planning
- Lead the annual strategic planning exercise, including long-range sales forecasts, digital portfolio management, and evaluation of key strategic topics
- Identify internal and external trends that could affect growth, profitability, and the ability for Alcon to execute it digital agenda
- Create/maintain valuation models for proposed projects
- Make recommendations for trade-offs in the digital roadmap funnel (e.g., by pressure-testing business cases and guiding portfolio analytics to estimate value)
- Assist the Global Head of Digital in aligning the organization with the strategy, driving change efforts and ensuring the progression of business initiatives
- Partner with Global Product Directors to shape/refine digital roadmap category strategies (product, GTM), ensuring alignment with overarching Franchise and Alcon objectives
- Develop CEO and Board of Directors level communications as well as content for quarterly business reviews
- Prepare acquisition proposals, recommend financial and non-financial strategic objectives and alternatives, and implement strategic and operational plans, including organizational structures
Cross-Functional Coordination:
- Partner with functional leadership (e.g., Franchise, R&D, Commercial) to prioritize core projects, ensure alignment between digital product roadmaps and the Global Franchise, and ensure decisions reflect the long-term interest of the business
- Conduct periodic reviews of digital project resource requirements and annual portfolio evaluations
Standard Minimum Requirements
- Education: Minimum: B.S. /B.A. in Business, Science, Engineering. Advanced degree such as MBA, JD, MD highly preferred
Experience:
- Minimum 12 years relevant experience +8 years leading people; preferred 4+ years top-tier management consulting experience
- Leadership: Strong proven leader of businesses, brands and people. Visionary, strategic, collaborative and driven
- Relevant end-to-end experience developing and launching digital products (e.g., agile methods, product design, go-to-market models, etc.), ideally in regulated healthcare environments
- Excellent analytical skills (problem structuring and problem solving) and understanding of financial analysis / valuation
- Ability to review and analyze and interpret data and make recommendations
- Advanced project management skills
- Ability to influence and map knowledge flow within an organization
- Excellent communication and conceptual synthesis skills
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively across a global, matrixed environment
- Passionate, positive attitude with proven ability to motivate and cultivate high performing teams
- Outstanding flexibility, adaptability and sense of accountability
