The Surgical Specialties Division is seeking a talented Senior Project Manager to lead and implement our ambitious outpatient transformation programme. Working with the Head & Neck (H&N) and Trauma and Orthopaedic (T&O) services, the post holder will lead on a range of outpatient optimisation initiatives.
We are looking for a dynamic leader, who is passionate about quality, patient-centred care, and improving efficiency. The key project deliverables will be linked to redesigning new appointment pathways to streamline patient care. The project will seek to improve new:follow up ratio and increase new appointment activity. Additionally, the streamlined pathways should deliver a reduction in follow ups, and/or increase in alternative follow up modalities.
We are looking for a dynamic individual who displays a passion for excellence in NHS services and has strong project experience in a large, complex secondary care environment. You will have experience delivering programmes of change and transformation.
This is an 18-month fixed term position, starting October/November 2024.

The key results areas for this post are;
• Work closely with the General Managers and senior UCLH leadership to deliver a comprehensive programme of change across T&O/H&N outpatients and administration
• To lead on a number of operationally critical projects related to transformation of outpatient and administration functions at UCLH
• Successful implementation of allocated projects and initiatives, which deliver the planned benefits in accordance with the programme targets

The Surgical Specialties Division (SSD) comprises of Trauma & Orthopaedics, Head & Neck, Urology and Thoracic Surgery. The division carries out approximately 15,000 elective episodes, 3,000 non-elective episodes and 100,000 outpatient appointments per year; it is a busy division with a wide variety of strategic and operational priorities.
This role will be based within the T&O and H&N services, supported by the General Managers and operational teams for these areas. These services cover both cancer and benign pathways, and receive referrals from North Central London (NCL) as well as having more specialist networks with referrals from further afield. The post holder should be prepared to work on-site at UCH alongside the service clinical and administrative teams.
