We are seeking an experienced and driven Project Manager to lead the development of the new seawater desalination plant at Sizewell C. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the lifecycle of the project. The project aims to treat seawater to potable standards for both domestic and industrial use, filling the gap caused by expected delays in the piped mains water supply from Essex and Suffolk Water.

You will support the design, installation, and operation of the Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) desalination plant located in the Temporary Construction Area (TCA). You’ll look to ensure that all mechanical, electrical, process, instrumentation, and automation (MEPICA) elements are integrated effectively. Your role will also include managing the intake and outtake pipelines, as well as the Marine Pumping Station (PS) Compound, which is critical for seawater intake and brine outfall.



The Role



As the Desalination Project Manager you will lead the delivery of the desalination plant. You will oversee the Desalination Contract, manage technical and engineering processes, and ensure seamless coordination across areas such as safety, health, and environmental practices, design, construction, and plant operation.

Strong leadership will be key in ensuring the project meets client specifications, stays on track with timelines, and adheres to budgetary requirements. A key part of your role is managing risks, facilitating changes, and upholding the highest technical standards, contributing significantly to the success and efficiency of the desalination plant and the overall progress of the Sizewell C project.

• Manage commercial arrangements with contractors to ensure that contractual arrangements are met and that cost controls are in place
• Provide monthly reports including achievement, costs and forecasts
• Manage the portfolio of projects delivery risks and provide early warning to mitigate and manage the level of risk exposure.
• Contribution and accountability on the assigned portfolio of projects for regulatory reporting requirements, including auditing of actual and forecast cost and output data.
• Liaise with important partners such as Infrastructure Planning, Design, Connections, Supply Chain, Network Operations, Procurement and Commercial Management to ensure that projects are managed from inception to completion
• Ensure that all work is carried out to provide very high levels of Customer Service e.g. minimise Customer Interruptions and Customer Minutes Lost, network risk, and customer complaints
• Ensure that all workers engaged on the projects / portfolio of projects are aware of all safety and environmental requirements
• Develop the project execution plan and prepare and present project governance approval papers

Qualifications:

• Experience managing construction or engineering projects of values in the region of £10m plus
• Commercial awareness
• Ideally you will have an Degree in Electrical Engineering , or Civil Engineering all with a Project Management bias
• Excellent understanding of construction management best practice
• Asafety qualification such as IOSH Managing Safely will be advantageous as will experience working with the CDM regulations and ISO9001 quality processes
• Experience of Primavera P6, online project collaboration tools, Microsoft Project, the Microsoft Office suite of applications (Excel, Word and Access) and project management techniques
• Aformal qualification from a recognised Project Management or construction professional body equivalent to APM PMQ or higher or A HNC in Electrical or Civil Engineering (or equivalent) with experience managing the development and construction of electrical distribution projects is the preferred requirement, however, applications from candidates with a lesser qualification and a record of accomplishment in either project management or electrical distribution infrastructures (design or construction) would be welcomed

Nature and Scope:

The Investment Delivery team is part of the Capital Programme & Procurement directorate. The team is responsible for programme management of NAMP lines and work with framework contractors to deliver the programme.

The role of a Project Manager in Investment Delivery is more biased towards Project Management skills than operational skills, although some operational experience would be advantageous.

You will lead a matrix structured diverse, multi-contract project team, and provide the necessary direction, targets and project milestones to ensure good use of resources.

You will ensure that important functions of the project delivery are in place. These include scopes of work, procurement processes, capital approval, resource planning (materials and people), project delivery, reporting and review.

Your role may have a portfolio that is NAMP line specific or cover a range of NAMP lines.

The Capital Programme directorate is planning to increase the Project Management competence in the team and therefore you will be required to undertake a formal qualification in Project Management.

Engineering Project Manager

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager with technical skills to support our engineering team to install new conveyor systems within our organisation for a 6 to 9 month fix term contract

Day-to-day responsibilities:

Project planning

Field verification of drawings and identifying interference's with existing/new equipment

Raise updates for different project phases, and address concerns, if any, from different groups, prior to start of works onsite.

Project execution

Set-up and manage daily calls with vendors, Provide daily report summary.

Site visits to verify project progress and gather stakeholder/customer feedback. Frequency of site visits to be agreed, address any concerns during these site visits. Escalate any concerns if needed.

Manage any ordered materials (signage, racking, SBL) to be received onsite, inventory and identify any gaps. Coordinate with Ops/RME to transport materials for the material movement and installation.

Coordinate with IT, obtain IDF keys and monitor IDF cabinets during data cable terminations. Validate cable installation and functionality with IT.

Supporting site acceptance tests (4-5d continuous onsite presence)

Project closure

Obtain all documentation from vendor and validate list against vendor deliverables. Validate basic document content (for ex. Declaration of conformity signed, correct DS name, etc.)

Transfer all documentation to appropriate storage location

Qualifications Experience

Working experience in Industrial, Mechanical, Process Engineering or equivalent

Working experience as Project Manager of medium complex projects

Proficiency in tools: AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel
