About the Role
Base Location: Flexible UK & Ireland | We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSE offices or depots around the UK and Ireland which include but are not limited to: Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Reading, Havant, London, Dublin and Belfast.

What is the Role?
As a Senior Project Engineer at SSE Renewables, you will lead and support engineering teams to design and deliver Battery Energy Storage Systems and Solar PV projects.
Responsibilities include:
- Creating initial designs including site layouts and single line diagrams.
- Supporting planning applications from a technical perspective.
- Collaborating with partners on solutions.
- Performing technical due diligence and ensuring technical quality from detailed design through construction and commissioning.
- Supporting tendering process by creating and reviewing scope of work and technical specifications, managing technical queries and evaluating bids.
- Influencing key stakeholders within and beyond our company to advance projects through our Assurance Process with strong technical leadership.
With over 700MW in delivery and a growing pipeline in the GWs, you will be working on some of the largest BESS and Solar projects in the UK & Ireland. This role offers professional growth, supports personal development, and relies on your knowledge of the energy market, transmission, and distribution networks, as well as engineering skills to boost our success and business expansion.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- Expertise in power generation project design, development and delivery, experience with LV and HV power networks is preferred.
- Proven skills in collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure technical quality in large project development and delivery.
- Experience managing and working with consultants, as well as EPC contractors as well as a collaborative approach for working with colleagues and customers.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the energy sector, including key engineering norms, market dynamics, and regulatory frameworks.
- Dedication to delivering engineering excellence in world-class projects with a commitment to continual improvement.
- Preferably experienced in solar PV design and delivery including simulation using PVsyst and have Chartered Engineer status or willingness to obtain it within role.
