The role
As an Advanced Planning Senior Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Babcock's Submarine Support Engineering (SSE) Group is contracted to provide engineering and design services support to the MOD, and in particular the In-Service Submarines (ISM) project team who form part of the defence engineering and support organisation.
Day-to-day, you'll be responsible for managing a small team who are tasked with identifying the work package, from a variety of data sources including the Through Life Boat Plan and the Submarine Definition Database, for forthcoming submarine maintenance periods and completing an Indicative Planning Schedule (IPS) for each maintenance period.
- Identify the work required for the forthcoming submarine maintenance period.
- Manage a team of Advanced Planning Engineers, using your engineering knowledge and experience, you will then help your team to resolve any ambiguities within these activities whilst ensuring that all work requirements are clearly defined and achievable.
- Regular liaison with a variety of stakeholders to ensure accuracy and achievement of the required quality to satisfy our customer.
- Provide guidance to the Advanced Planning Engineers in your team in order to complete an Indicative planning schedule for this work.
This role is full time 35 hours per week, provides hybrid working from home arrangements and is adaptable and can be delivered from various locations including Bristol, Plymouth or Clyde.
Essential experience of the Advanced Planning Senior Engineer
- Ideally, you will have experience in managing and running submarine maintenance activities
- Previously qualified as a submariner e.g. Marine Engineering Department Category B or Category A watchkeeper, held a senior rank in a TWS department or have demonstratable knowledge and experience of submarine systems.
Qualifications for the Advanced Planning Senior Engineer
- Engineering degree or HNC/HND or demonstrable relevant experience
- Extensive experience in engineering delivery and a good knowledge of submarine operations and maintenance activities.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
