Senior Counsel – Business Contracting

In this vital role The Sr. Counsel will support business and clinical contracting of the company as well as provide legal support to Environmental Health & Safety, Crisis Management, Global Clinical Development Operations, Global Strategic Sourcing, Global Business Transaction Center. This role will be expected to advise on strategies for sourcing and supplier management, a wide array of clinical contracting issues (including informed consent issues, patient recruitment materials, and data sharing) and advise on and draft, negotiate, and enforce clinical and procurement-type contracts world-wide for procurement of all varieties of goods and services (including clinical trial agreements and other clinical research contracts, raw materials procurement, renewable energy agreements, facilities and operations services, software license and development, professional consulting services, commercial operations, digital and print agencies, outsourcing, contract manufacturing, and contingent work force).
The Sr. Counsel we seek will work directly with internal clients and external parties, advising on contracting strategy in addition to contracting issues and disputes and will handle, prioritize, and follow through on a high volume of matters and inquiries. They must have strong interpersonal skills, take responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work, and be a self-starter with the resourcefulness to develop new strategies to effectively support the clients. They must be able to participate on teams in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment and be able to identify and advise on issues and develop alternative approaches that achieve objectives in a manner that considers the facts, constraints and risks and is consistent with compliance requirements and the company's values. They will be expected to adapt to changing business needs, conditions, and work responsibilities. The Sr. Counsel will also be expected to work collaboratively with others in the law department and mentor and support professional development of paralegals.

Basic Qualifications:
J.D. degree or LL.M. Degree from an accredited law school, admission to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction and four (4) years of experience practicing law.
Preferred Qualifications:
5 to 10 years of experience working in a nationally recognized law firm or in-house at a large company.
Experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry, or regulatory law.
Experience in business and commercial contracting (preferably in the areas of contract manufacturing, goods, and services as well as procurement).
Clinical trial contracting and related experience.
Experience working in a nationally recognized law firm or in-house at a large company.
Experience drafting, negotiating, and executing high volume of contracts in a time sensitive environment.
Superior analytical skills and ability to provide timely and informed advice and exercise thoughtful judgment and discretion in a high-pressure environment.
Strong time management skills and ability to follow through on a high volume of matters and inquiries.
Ability to develop strong and collaborative team and client relationships.
Strong verbal and written communication skills
