Assistant Finance Business Partner

Here at Serco, we have an opportunity for an Assistant Finance Business Partner to join the Leisure team and support the Finance Business Partner and Serco business leaders to deliver profitable and sustainable growth for services. As our AFBP, you will be responsible for providing dedicated commercial, and financial information to support decisions aligned to strategic and customer priorities, to support winning good business and improve shareholder value. You will work with Business Partners and their portfolio of business to assist in providing assumptions, help influence decisions and support in making recommendations for efficiency improvements to sustain growth.

As part of this you’ll:
- Support the Finance Business Partner by providing commercial and financial support; challenge and insight into business profitability to drive future performance.
- Understand the customer landscape and their drivers to provide contract / service pricing, cash, and margin optimisation recommendations, ensuring an acceptable balance of risk and return.
- Produce accurate financial records, compliance, business financial plans and forecasts with the Finance Business Partner for use by the Leisure finance team.
- Understand the value drivers of the business and provide guidance on contract / service performance including ROI, scenario planning, KPI analysis and benchmarking.
- Support the portfolio strategy through market, competitor and portfolio analysis and inform market entry and exit decisions.
- Provide information to aid the support for new business, drawing upon the Pricing and Deal Architecture and Legal teams.
- Develop customer relationships to support successful commercial and financial negotiations regarding variable revenue, rebids, and change notices.
- Support business leaders to deliver contractual obligations through identification of over and under delivery, performing root cause analysis, and making recommendations.
- Drive contract / service cost optimisation projects through profitability analysis and efficiency recommendations.
What you’ll need to do the role:
- Ideally you will be working as an Assistant Finance Business Partner or similar, working towards an appropriate professional qualification for the role (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Ability to highlight problems and support innovative and practical solutions.
- Strong commercial acumen, as well as an understanding of relationships between key financial and non-financial business value drivers.
- Ability to interpret and deal with incomplete data.
- Proven experience of building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel as and when required within the UK.
