Graduate Training Programme: First 6 months

• Develop a core knowledge of how the business operates - warehouse, logistics, supply chain, administration, IT software, and marketing.
• Get hands-on with the vast product range and learn about different manufacturers and the electrical distribution industry.
• Start building relationships, making deals and advising customers face-to-face over the trade counter e.g. electricians, contractors and tradespeople.
• Begin your formal sales training course, staying overnight alongside other Graduate Trainees from across the company.
• Complete workbook assessments to underpin your learning and development and receive financial incentives for each one passed to a required standard.

6-12 months

• Move to internal sales account management, engaging with business customers over the phone e.g. construction companies, local government authorities, housing developers and hotels.
• Learn business development strategies and how to target and win new trading accounts.

12 months and beyond

• Progress to a diverse business-to-business field sales management position, with increased earning potential and bigger bonuses.
• Travel locally in your company car, meeting clients, discussing projects, and arranging social activities.
• Work towards running your own business in the group, learning about staff management, purchasing, profit and loss, etc. The business operates in a decentralised manner, allowing local managers to make informed decisions that drive the business forward.

Your new company is a construction company based in the surrounds of Woking, Surrey that specialises in the installation of interior fixtures and fittings for commercial properties in the Surrey and London areas. The company has enjoyed rapid expansion and an impressive increase in turnover that has created a position for a trainee estimator / project co-ordinator to support the project management team in organising the estimating of material costs to fulfil the demand on site for purchasing and delivering construction materials and labour as well as managing tasks on the project plans.
Your new role is to work alongside the project team to read the scope of works, interpret the procurement schedules for individual projects with a value from £0.25 million to £4 million and assist in the execution of the project plans. This role is an office-based role and training would be given on the specific products, which include plasterboard, suspended ceiling systems, dry-wall partition systems & MF systems.
What you will need to succeed is a high level of organisational skills, and you will have a positive can-do attitude to work and be able to work unsupervised. You will have proficiency in MS Office such as Word, Excel and you will be trained in some specialist software for interpreting and performing take-offs of estimates from drawings. You will either have some form of formal training and education in construction or have experience within a construction company or a similar business to business service and could learn quickly in the sector.
You will live in Surrey and need to have your own transport and the head office is not located near any transport links and is in a rural location. You will have excellent listening and analytical skills and be able to communicate professionally at a high level with the senior staff in the organisation.

What you'll get in return is a competitive salary from £17,665 for candidates aged up to 20 and £23,498 for candidates aged over 21. Other benefits include pension, 23 days per year plus bank holidays and the opportunity to gain experience & training and gain more responsibility with this family run SME in an idyllic rural part of Surrey.
