Are you excited about the potential of tech, but concerned how it may affect society?
Do you want to use your project management skills to benefit the public good and make a real impact on millions of people and businesses in the UK?
Join the Digital Markets Unit at the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) and contribute to the delivery of the CMA’s work to administer a new pro-competition digital markets regime that will benefit consumers.
About the CMA
We help people, businesses, and the UK economy by promoting competitive markets and tackling unfair behaviour. Our work is wide ranging, ambitious and often new and challenging.
The Digital Markets Unit has been established to promote greater competition and innovation in digital markets, for the benefit of consumers and people. Our work focuses on some of the most important digital markets used by consumers and business in the UK, like online search, social media, app stores and online marketplaces.
What you will do
As a Principal Project Officer, you will be part of the newly established Programme Office, supporting the planning and tracking of projects to ensure that the Digital Markets Unit delivers its responsibilities for the new digital markets regime.
Your responsibilities may include:
• Leading and/or project managing the Programme Office workstreams within the Digital Markets Unit
• Ensuring that work is delivered to timeframes, including identifying, managing and escalating risks
• Developing and maintaining positive relationships with relevant teams across the CMA to support effective project delivery and team capacity building
• Ensuring adherence to the Digital Markets Unit’s internal governance processes, including business continuity planning and relevant reporting to senior decision makers within the CMA
• Managing the Digital Markets Unit risk register, including routine monitoring, assessment and escalation of relevant risks to the senior management team
• Leading the review and improvement of recommended processes and knowledge-capture to improve our efficiency
What you will need
You will need experience of successfully delivering projects to challenging timescales, providing strategic direction, recommending change, problem solving and keeping track of progress to ensure quality outcomes.
You will also need excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to develop strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including those from other professional backgrounds.
Proven ability to influence and collaborate with colleagues and senior decision-makers and draw on analysis of a wide range of information and identify and communicate key risks is equally important.
What we can offer you
The CMA is a hugely diverse, rewarding and stimulating place to work – an opportunity to work for the public good and to stretch and develop yourself in doing so. We offer generous benefits, including an excellent pension scheme with an average employer contribution of 27%, at least 25 days leave (increasing to 30 over five years), and generous maternity/paternity leave provision. You can also take advantage of interest-free season ticket loans, a cycle to work scheme, our employee assistance programme, and our extensive flexible working options.
