Job Summary:
This is a key role within the Convatec Technology & Innovation (T&I) team, a group that spends $100M+ annually to discover, design, build, and launch the products that will enable the company’s future success.
As the External Innovation Strategy Associate, you will play a key role in helping to identify and analyze valuable technology opportunities in which Convatec will make investments. You will serve at the forefront of data gathering and analysis that will enable Convatec decisions to place bets on future business opportunities. While an in-depth technological background is not necessary for this role, a passion for discovering and understanding the value of emerging technologies will be critical.
This role will report to the Director of External Innovation and will work very closely with a wide range of internal stakeholders, including R&D, Clinical, Strategy, and Global Marketing.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintaining an up-to-date external innovation database across our key business areas for defined medical technology spaces & related conditions, leveraging both primary and secondary research.
Conducting data analytics, determining category trend insights and creating output visualizations to help inform innovation area recommendations and business development.
Collaborating with clinical, regulatory, R&D and commercial stakeholders to evolve our understanding of opportunity areas and defining target company shortlists.
Driving continuous improvement of our process and analytics to drive cross-business consistency and evolution of our ability to define relevant potential segments and targets.
Developing executive communication materials to share your findings with key stakeholders.
Coordinating with business, marketing, medical, and R&D leaders to understand Convatec capabilities to integrate new technology.
About You:
A Science, engineering or other degree with strong numeracy requirements from a top-tier university
Strong attention to detail as the research, data, analytic and resulting insights will help to inform strategy & investment decisions.
Strong analytical skillset and ability to present data and insights in a concise, informative manner – with strong related competency in Excel and PowerPoint
Life sciences experience to ensure appropriate comprehension of information being researched, e.g. within publications, on medical technologies and the relevant high-level steps that are required to bring innovation to market within medical devices
Preferrable 1-3 years analyst role experience from within a top-tier management consulting firm
Motivated, easy to work with and collaborative.
Working Conditions:
You’ll predominantly be working from home with approx. bi-monthly to our sites in either Deeside or Paddington.
Travel:
The position will likely involve travel to 2-3 conferences per year, plus project related travel to collaborate with cross-functional teams (primarily Europe and US)
