We are looking for an individual to join our team on major UK construction projects as a site-based Site Agent starting on
projects in Scotland, reporting directly to the Project Manager and Contract Manager. Working in a team, the successful candidate
will support the management and delivery of civil engineering projects.



You will be working within a flexible organisation where self-motivated and practical problem solvers will thrive. We will help
you develop your knowledge and experience further, by providing plenty of exposure to a variety of matters in a supportive working

Key responsibilities include:



• Ensuring a “safety first” attitude underpins all operations undertaken for the Company to ensure the health and safety of the
company’s personnel and any other people working or visiting site.

• Ensuring all activities are completed safely in compliance with the company’s health and safety policies and procedures.

• Ensuring any environmental protection matters are identified and assisting with implementing the mitigating procedures and
systems where appropriate.

• Ensuring company procedures and systems on quality, health & safety and the environment are implemented and complied with on
site.

• Preparing quality, environmental and H&S construction plans in a timely manner.

• Planning, measuring, monitoring and reviewing the progress of contracts throughout the project’s lifespan and ensuring
compliance with project’s budgets and programme.

• Managing the project delivery team to ensure adequate plant, labour and subcontract and material resources are available in a
timely manner to comply with the project’s timescales.

• Ensuring timely submission of the necessary documentation for inclusion within the project health and safety file.

• Interpreting engineering drawings and specifications and ensuring the accurate construction of the works in accordance with
client requirements.

• Ensuring the timely procurement and payment of suppliers and subcontractors in accordance with company procedures and
monitoring their performance including financial throughout the project.

• Preparing and submitting weekly reports on progress for review by the Project Manager or Contract Manager for inclusion in
the project’s financial CVRs and forecasts to completion

• Identifying potential problem areas, and financial impact, in sufficient time to ensure adequate provisions have been made
within forecast accounts.

• Providing sufficient and accurate information to the site Works Management and Foremen to ensure timely construction of the
works.

• Ensuring the timely submission of interim and final accounts.

• Actively resolve contractual issues with both clients and suppliers while also maintaining a good relationship.

• Mentoring and guidance for junior members of your team and operatives to fully develop their construction competencies.







What we are looking for



• Degree or HND in Civil Engineering

• Demonstrable experience of working as a Site Agent within the civil engineering construction industry preferably on large
windfarm and earth works projects.

• Experience in Design & Build Contracts




• Understanding and experience in NEC4 Contracts

• Strong computer literacy and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Project 2000, Project Costing Software, CAD,
LSS surveying packages

• Good commercial awareness with effective influencing and negotiating skills, as well as an aptitude to develop emerging and
new client relationships.

• Experience of managing and mentoring engineers.

• Excellent knowledge of current civil engineering legislation as well as Health & Safety and Environmental legislation.

• Highly developed professional communication and negotiation skills, including writing and presentation of reports, preparing
business management documents, and presenting information in meetings with clients and other parties.

• The ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

• The ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in both mathematical or diagrammatic form and deal
with several abstract and concrete variables.

• Demonstrable ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines supported by strong organisational skills.

• Excellent communicator, both written and oral, with the ability to adapt communication style to suit different circumstances.

• Full UK Driving Licence and a willingness to travel and work at UK based sites is also required.

About the Role

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available

As Senior Civil Project Manager, youll be responsible for the delivery of the main civil works package for the Coire Glas Pumped Storage project, located near Invergarry in the Highlands of Scotland. This will include all underground caverns and tunnels, a significant dam structure with associated control works, as well as several km of buried 400KV cables connecting the power cavern to the National Grid. Youll ensure that all components of this fantastic project are delivered safely, in a timely and cost-effective manner, and to a high quality in line with the Large Capital Project framework.

Some of your other main accountabilities will include;

- Ensuring all project works are managed safely in line with SSEs safety family principles, whilst working with others to develop new initiatives to improve health & safety on all working environments.

- The delivery of all necessary LCP Gate requirements to support the project moving into the construction phase.

- The management of all civil package resources, processes, systems, controls and associated reporting.

- Maintaining clear and effective communication channels with all project managers, senior management, consenting, engineering, finance, legal, procurement and delivery teams in order to ensure that there is consistency in the way we develop Coire Glas.

- Working closely with the Operations teams as required for the lifetime of the project.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Extensive experience of delivering large civil engineering projects

- Significant involvement in commercial and technical negotiations that form part of delivering large engineering projects.

- Proven success in managing teams with a wide range of expertise and ability.

- A solid understanding of the key drivers for civil engineering project business cases, including communicating and justifying project needs

- A high level of competency in affectively negotiating and influencing with senior level stakeholders.
