Your new role
In your new role you will be handling a varied caseload of legal expense-backed-dispute claims involving, but not limited to property, construction, and consumer contracts. Other responsibilities in this role will include renewing and advising on legal expense cover, assisting partners and senior solicitors with more substantial disputes, and monitoring and provision of management information to insurer client. You will also be taking part in building and maintaining effective client relationships. As an Estates Security & Services Assistant you will be part of a team who are responsible for assisting our customers in a variety of ways, such as setting up classrooms for exams and open events or moving and storing furniture. You will also hold responsibility for ensuring the College’s security is maintained; undertaking building patrols and operating surveillance equipment. This will include opening and closing buildings and classrooms, working with fire alarms and activating/de-activating intruder alarms.


Another essential aspect of the role will be to carry out minor repairs and general maintenance work, alongside responsibility for providing a professional postal service which includes sorting the post, as well as delivering it to all our College sites.

Role: Prison Security Escort

Location: HMP Exeter

Standard Rate: £12.09 per hour + 33 days holiday pay

Overtime rate: £18.15ph (overtime after 37.5 hours)

Duration: Temporary with the potential to be long term

Typical hours: Monday to Friday: 08:00-17:00

As a Prison Security Escort, you will work alongside the prison service, supporting our client who is responsible for the maintenance of the buildings. You will be a part of security team where you will escort and oversee contractors such as carpenters, plumbers and electricians, whilst they complete their maintenance work.

Duties of a Prison Security Escort Include (but not limited to)

• Checking the identification of the contractors
• Booking in and out of the contractors
• Escorting contractors through the prison to their place of work
• Overseeing contractors whilst they are working
• Checking contractor tools are all accounted for prior to leaving work area
• Using the radio to request permission to move contractors within the prison
• Checking contractors have been briefed on security measures

About You:

• You will have good communication skills
• Have excellent attention to detail
• Be safety conscious
• Have been living in the UK for the past 3+ years
• Be able to pass security vetting (includes providing references, passing security police checks & providing photo identification)
