The role
As a Senior Civil and Structural Engineer you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll be specialising in life extension of the facilities, through life maintenance and reference design.
Day to day, you'll be responsible for all technical aspects of through life management of the infrastructure across Devonport Royal Dockyard to ensure the wide range of facilities are operational and fit for purpose.
- Undertaking design and analysis of civil structures.
- Undertaking site work and inspections of assets.
- General knowledge of structural behaviour and design intent/function of assets.
- Liaising with plant manages and facility operators to facility inspections.
- Preparing technical scopes and specifications and provide intelligent customer role.
This role is full time, working 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Senior Civil and Structural Engineer:
- A sound understanding civil structures.
- Knowledge of common defect types applicable to civil structures.
- You need to possess good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with others, including internal stakeholders and customers.
- Self-motivated and ability to deliver to a scheduled deadline.
- A willingness to adapt and learn.
Qualifications for the Senior Civil and Structural Engineer:
- You'll be either educated to degree level in civil, structural or related engineering discipline, or hold a level 4/5 STEM qualification (HNC/HND) with substantial relevant experience.
- Chartered or near Chartered Engineer with a relevant institution (ICE or IStructE).

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
