ROLE: Childcare Legal Assistant
RATE: £15-£20ph
BASED: Manchester - Hybrid working
CONTRACT LENGTH: 6 Months ongoing

The Role/ Responsibilities

• They will work alongside a Senior Legal Assistant undertaking Childcare proceedings.
• Requesting and filing evidence, answering calls, booking Counsel.
• Drafting and preparing Bundles
• Working and supporting Lawyers on Childcare matters.

The Person

• Experience within Childcare Law is a benefit but the council is open to candidates with a law degree / LPC / bar finals passed, looking to gain entry level experience
• Great communication skills, written and oral.
• Prompt, organised and efficient.

Family Legal Assistant needed in Oldham Paying £13 per hr ref 0009 057C /1

Full time hours on a temporary basis

1. To keep up to date with relevant legislation and assist in implementing changes of legislation which affect the functions of the relevant Sections. In relation to the Family Team this includes legislation relating to Social Services and Education functions and including the law relating to child protection, adoption, mental health and school appeals
2. To assist in the preparation and conduct of appropriate cases or matters assigned and carrying out associated legal/administration work, including the drafting and preparation of relevant documentation and updating of Court Bundles under the supervision of the Group Solicitor, Family and Solicitors, Family.
3. To collect evidence and prepare witness statements, undertake research, progress chasing, setting up and minuting meetings.
4. To Clerk School Exclusions and Admission Appeals and deal with all ancillary matters arising therefrom.
