Our Newark based client is looking for a Trainee Legal Secretary to join their very Conveyancing department. This is an entry level position, where training will be given.

Main duties for the role of Trainee Legal Secretary:
• Accurate audio typing
• Managing and arranging diary appointments
• General administration duties

This would be an ideal job for someone looking to get a foot on the ladder within a legal environment. Intermediate Word and Excel skills are required as is accurate typing skills.

Job Specification:

- Advise and represent clients.
- Undertake fee-earning responsibilities to support principal caseworkers.
- Support senior caseworkers working on progression and management of case files.
- Act as a fee earner undertaking tasks delegated by senior caseworkers.
- Comply with SQM (Specialist Quality Mark) and all internal transaction criteria and procedures.
- Assist and participate with training initiatives taken by the firm.
- Act as “next friend” and promote training initiatives of new recruits and promoted staff.
- Comply with the firm’s Office Manual.
- Maintain client confidentiality and legal professional privilege.
- Actively promote office relations with clients, their families and potential new clients (Public relations).

Personal Specification:-

Skills:

- Confident demeanour. Good oral and written communication. Grasp of legal procedures, court protocol and rules of evidence. Ability to record meticulously.
- Ability to attract clients and referrals. Understanding of costs awareness.

Knowledge:

- Successful completion of or undergoing part time LPC or SQE qualification.
- Understanding of Rules of Conduct and Client Confidentiality.

Experience:

- Work within practice, industry supplement to academic training.
- Computer or ICT familiarity. Dealing with the public

Office hours are Monday to Friday, 9am - 5.30pm with one hour for lunch.
