As a Public Health Advisor you will:

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY

As a Public Health Advisor, you will use your knowledge of and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by:

• Serving as a principal representative responsible for coordinated, innovative, community-based and evidence based, or novel public health programs, initiatives, grants and related matters between and among Federal, local, state, and community-based organizations addressing behavioral health issues.
• Serving as the contact point for all inquiries and activities for the Office of Behavioral Health Equity (OBHE) related to infant, children and young adults; drawing on their judgment, experience and knowledge in being able to interact with and obtain critical problem information from groups representing underserved populations, providers, youth with lived experience and or in recovery, families, schools, community-based organizations, states, local county governments, and national associations.
• Coordinating the development of information and education materials on product problems such as press releases, talking papers, and fact sheets to alert public or lay users about specific problems, and papers for presentation at conferences or meetings of professional
  organizations.
• Serving on committees, intra- and inter-agency workgroups and other comparable groups delegated responsibility for reviewing and developing public health policies and procedures and guidelines.

As a Public Health Advisor you will:

• Serve as senior level evaluator and conducts complex evaluation studies on one-of-a­ kind or controversial operating public health programs having far-reaching bureau or departmentwide impact.
• Lead the development of nationwide (or comparable scope) program operations and initiatives for assigned operating public health programs.
• Develops and implements strategies and plans for meeting national program objectives. Identifies and evaluates information, data requirements, and resources to establish priorities and to maintain capacity to respond to internal and external demands.
• c. Prepares, reviews, negotiates, and/or monitors collaborative agreements, contracts, and/or memorandum of agreement. Coordinates overall administrative and program activities to ensure successful program execution.

• Provide on-going assistance in the selection and development of health education methods and materials suited to specific groups and situations.
• Assists in the orientation of new personnel with respect to community characteristics; develops orientation material as prescribed in the IHS manual.
• Provides training assistance to Community Health Representatives on planned basis as well as seeks ways to give guidance to Community Health Representatives specific interests and areas of need.
• Provides supportive service to Service Unit staff (Medical, Dental, Nursing, Dietary, Administrative, Community Health Services, etc.) to develop the educational component of their respective program activities.
• Works with tribal leaders, tribal health and health related workers, public health and other agency staff in developing community health education activities in accord with program plans based on health needs and interests of the American Indian/Alaska Native people.
• Pin points educational opportunities in preventive and curative services in hospital and clinic settings, and works with other staff to realize such educational potential.
• Develops formal and informal training opportunities (Tribal groups, CHR's Auxiliary, students) intended to encourage involvement in community health planning.

The Role
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, community facilitator to support the Public Health Directorate. The role will be focused on supporting the delivery of our community engagement activities across our communities and settings, to meet our strong ambition for improving population health and reduce health inequalities in Bolton.

You will be involved in implementing a strength-based approach and delivering a high-quality service to communities and partners in a locality context. You will have a focus on improving health outcomes with citizens in Bolton through development and active citizenship, empowering people to make positive changes through a capacity building approach to reduce health inequalities in the borough.
You will carry out outreach work with the communities of Bolton, to support local people in the building of a stronger more resilient, healthier place to live, work or socialise and to assist in the establishment of Public Health community engagement. You will be responsible for promoting and developing community activity in areas across Bolton, working with voluntary and community projects and supporting local people to get more involved with their community.

This post will have a specific focus on the Health Improvement agenda and will support the Public Health Programme Manager in driving forward the emerging Healthy Places work as well as providing advice and support across the broad spectrum of public health. The areas of responsibility may vary over time depending on local priorities and the needs of the Public Health directorate.

You will support the development and delivery of a range of public health strategies, interventions and services for the population in Tameside particularly in relation to key strategies such as the Health & Wellbeing Strategy, Healthy Places Strategic Framework and statutory public health programmes and services.

You will have experience of:

Public health programme development and delivery with strong technical public health skills

Working across organisational boundaries and collaboratively with several parties engaged in the public health agenda.
