Position Overview:
We are currently looking for experienced HGV Class 1 Night Trunk Drivers to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting goods overnight between designated locations, ensuring timely and secure deliveries. As a vital part of our operations, you will play a key role in maintaining our commitment to excellence in service delivery.
Responsibilities:
Safely operate and maneuver HGV Class 1 vehicles over long distances during night shifts.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the mechanical soundness of the vehicle and report any defects promptly.
Load and unload goods as required, adhering to safety protocols and securing cargo properly for transit.
Plan routes efficiently to meet delivery schedules and optimize fuel consumption.
Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including driver logs, mileage, and fuel consumption.
Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and customers to coordinate delivery schedules and address any issues that may arise.
Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies to ensure compliance and safety at all times.
Report any accidents, incidents, or violations to the appropriate authorities and follow company procedures for incident reporting.
Maintain a clean and organized vehicle, both inside and out, and perform routine maintenance tasks as needed.
Represent the company in a professional manner at all times, demonstrating courtesy and respect in interactions with customers and the public.
Qualifications:
Valid HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) driving license with a clean driving record.
Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
Previous experience as an HGV Class 1 driver, preferably in night trunking or long-distance transportation.
Strong understanding of road safety regulations and compliance requirements.
Excellent driving skills, with the ability to maneuver large vehicles safely in various traffic and weather conditions.
Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Reliable and responsible, with a strong commitment to meeting delivery schedules and maintaining high standards of professionalism.
Flexibility to work night shifts and weekends as required.
Basic mechanical knowledge and the ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance tasks is desirable.
