The post is within the Home Improvements Team which forms part of the Building Services team, under the umbrella of Corporate Support
Job Purpose:

Supporting the Principal Housing Improvement Officer in the delivery of comprehensive and efficient Home Improvement Service the post holder will assess adaptation requirements in line with relevant legislation, undertake design work to address identified requirements efficiently and effectively and manage the delivery of the works to a high standard.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

1. To provide an efficient and effective service to clients who are enquiring about, have made an application for, or have received approval for, the various types of grant or loan assistance provided by the Council.

2. To organise and oversee all technical aspects of the Housing grants / loans process from receipt of initial enquiry through to completion. Visiting client’s in their own homes providing the required level of advice and information and maintaining regular contact with them at each stage of the case

3. To Inspect properties with regard to the legislation and standards appertaining to the Housing Health and Safety Rating System, the Decent Homes Standard, Disabled Facilities Grant and other relevant standards, as appropriate. To visit properties and undertake surveys to identify eligible works, prepare detailed plans and specifications / schedules of work to meet the needs and to check and analyse plans, specifications, estimates, bills of quantities and variations in connection with all applications for assistance.

4. To maintain and review an up-to-date Register of Preferred Contractors

5. To administer the Contracts for Works, instruct contractors and monitor the quality of workmanship.

6. To assist & contribute towards the development of a Private Service

QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING

Qualified to at least HND/HNC level Building Construction and / or Surveying or equivalent

E.C.D.L. or equivalent Computer qualification
EXPERIENCE

Considerable experience in a residential building / surveying related discipline with detailed knowledge of the building industry, surveying practices and techniques, adaptations and general domestic building maintenance / repair practices.

Experience in the production of detailed specifications, schedules of work and plans using CAD programmes. Ability to compile and maintain a schedule of rates, tender preparation and negotiation, contract administration, quality and cost control.

Knowledge
A good understanding of building construction, identification of defects and remedies, including structural matters. Along with the technical expertise and ingenuity to solve complex problems.
A good understanding of the implications of adapting buildings to meet the needs of disabled people.
Knowledge of Health and Safety issues with regards to building works and the construction design and management regulations.

Skills
The post holder must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills

The post holder must possess the ability to organise and prioritise own workload effectively.

The post holder must possess the ability to reach a variety of target audiences and be able to liaise with people at all organisational and community levels.

Your new role
I am currently working with a leading construction company who are looking for a technical administrator to join the team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Reporting in to the compliance manager, the main purpose of your role is to manage the process for the input of subcontractor certificates and subsequent payment.
Your duties will include:

• Managing the process for the input of subcontractor certificates and payment information using CRM tickets to keep business informed
• Keeping master data up to date for all subcontractors within the business
• Managing the input of applications as received and ensuring that all invoice-based applications have the correct backing documentation and are input right first time.
• Acting as the business expert regarding all processing of information on the Oracle Application and Certificate platform.
• Maintaining relationships with all stakeholders

The Design Technology Department at Birkdale High School is a committed, collaborative and hard working team with a strong team ethos. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic department who have worked hard to develop a carefully sequenced and challenging curriculum. This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher of Design Technology with outstanding potential to join a successful department with committed teachers working as a close team. The appointed candidate is required to join the team from 1 January 2025 (or sooner). This role is suitable for an ECT or a more experienced teacher.

As the Technical Cleaning Team Manager at our cutting-edge Omega Distribution Centre, located at the Omega Business Park just off Junction 8 of the M62, you will lead a team of Technical Cleaners to ensure optimal performance of the warehouse’s automated systems through the maintenance of high cleaning and health and safety standards. Your primary focus will be to minimise downtime of the automated systems by delivering scheduled and reactive cleaning activities while ensuring compliance with all health and safety policies and procedures.

In this role, you will oversee the team's daily activities, ensuring compliance with cleaning schedules and KPIs, while also managing stock levels and equipment maintenance. You will be responsible for training and developing your team, ensuring all operations are carried out safely, particularly when working at height or in restricted spaces.

Working closely with the Facilities Manager and the wider team of Building Maintenance Engineers, Automation Engineers, and other departments, you will drive continuous improvement and efficiency across all cleaning functions within the facility.

Job Overview

• Cleaning Operations Management: Oversee the technical cleaning team's daily activities, ensuring all cleaning tasks are delivered as per the facilities maintenance schedule (ARMS) and KPIs.
• Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all team members adhere to safe systems of work and health and safety regulations, particularly when working at height or in restricted areas.
• Training & Development: Conduct inductions, refresher training, and ongoing coaching to ensure the technical cleaning team meets performance and safety standards.
• Resource & Rota Management: Plan and prioritise resources to meet scheduled and reactive cleaning needs, ensuring standards are maintained and costs are managed effectively.
• Team Performance Management: Review the team's performance, conduct, and cleaning standards, providing feedback and support for continuous improvement.
• Stock & Equipment Maintenance: Manage cleaning stock levels and monitor equipment maintenance to ensure readiness and compliance with standards.
• Collaboration & Coordination: Work closely with Automation Engineers and other teams to coordinate access for cleaning tasks and maintain smooth warehouse operations.

Minimum Criteria To Apply

• Experience working in an operational cleaning function, with experience in logistics or distribution environments preferred.
• Proven experience in supervising or managing teams.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to coach and guide team members.
• Ability to organise and prioritise workloads effectively.
• Proactive problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
• Analytical skills to assess and improve cleaning performance and efficiency.
• Strong team player with the ability to influence key stakeholders and drive results.
