• Provide support and installation services for the continuing operation of the Trusts’ network infrastructure, LAN, WAN and WLAN, in order to maintain high levels of security, integrity and availability.
• Taking day to day responsibility for the provision of general network support, and to take a key role in deployments and troubleshooting.
• Performing detailed network monitoring and produce performance reports.
• Provide support to service calls and requests from the Trusts’ IT Service Desk.
• Become involved in network-related projects.
• To provide expert-level support and maintenance of the network infrastructure and network services for the Trust on the main campus and all offsite locations.
• In addition, the provision of support and advice to other IT staff, Trust managers and end-users on the use and management of IT network hardware and software.
• The role will require work across all Frimley Health sites in Berkshire, Hampshire and Surrey but will have a primary base location of Wexham Park Hospital.
• To provide support for Trust networks (LAN and WAN and WLAN)
• To ensure that network security is paramount and standard across all switches, routers, firewalls and wireless appliances.
• To implement patches and changes to network equipment
• Provide third line support for all network related issues
• To take a “hands-on” role in resolving issues and troubleshooting across all FHFT locations and network data cabinet environments
• To keep abreast of new technology and best practice in networking
• To develop good and effective working relationships with colleagues within IM&T and the wider Trust.
• To be a member of the IT on-call team on a rota basis for support outside of normal working hours, and to assist colleagues who are on call if required.
• To work out of hours during system upgrades or during major system failures.
• To work flexibly to meet user’s requirements.
• To document, develop and maintain the network systems, policies and procedures
• To monitor the performance of the service
• To assist in planning and implementing IT projects such as new systems or network infrastructure
• Participate in new network installations of large and small sites.
• Configure and install network equipment, identifying network requirements.

Essential criteria/knowledge:
• LAN/WAN technologies
• Administrative knowledge of Aruba WiFi
• Experience of installation and commissioning of data network systems.
• Experience of testing disaster recovery plans for IT networks
• Experience of configuring and deploying wireless networking services and systems
• Experience of configuring and deploying network switches and other related hardware
• Experience working in, installing and refreshing network cabinet locations with an in-depth appreciation of Ethernet and Fibre Optics
• Experience of working with external contractors on the delivery of data-cabling infrastructure
• Knowledge and experience of network management services and systems
• Knowledge and experience of networking protocols with particular emphasis on TCP/IP, etc
• Extensive understanding of security issues relating to networks
• Knowledge of Mitel VoIP or similar
• Knowledge of emergency pager/bleep solutions
• Production and maintenance of accurate systems inventory, build documents, licence and patch management records.
