Location: Chichester but will involve travel across the County. The role is predominantly out on site across West Sussex but most likely to the Mid and east part of the County (Horsham, Crawley, Burgess Hill, Shoreham) depending on the business need. About the role:

• You will work within a forward-thinking network management team responsible for delivering duties under the Network Management Act 2004 for the expeditious movement of traffic on the highway network and that of any neighbouring authorities. You will support the promotion of any initiatives and transport and traffic schemes including elements of the West Sussex Transport Plan.

• To do so you will ensure that utility companies and other persons under Permit and / or licence, carry out works on the public highway safely and in accordance with the New Roads and Streetworks Act 1991, Traffic Management Act 2004 and Permit Scheme and other relevant legislation and policy.

• You will also be responsible for responding to, and resolving, a range of customer issues relating to the licensing of temporary obstructions to the highway, and to take a lead in enforcement for infringements.

• You will support the day to day activities of the Network Management Team and be the interface in respect of the provision of Network Management Compliance. You will achieve this by co-ordinating and minimising the impact of work sites on the highway network by permit condition to ensure that the work sites are run professionally.

• The role will include undertaking site visits, which may mean being exposed to unpleasant environmental conditions, due to being outside.

In this role, you will provide technical support to operationalise all aspects of Ecole 42 programme, including but not limited to;

• Install and configure software and hardware
• Manage network servers and technology tools
• Set up accounts and workstations
• Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements
• Troubleshoot issues
• Ensure security through access controls, backups and firewalls
• Keep systems updated.
• Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies
• Any other matters as necessary for the smooth operations of 42 programme

Requirements:

• Experience in the development and usage of APIs.
• Experience in the development for Linux.
• Proficient in programming one or more programming languages such as C, Python, JavaScript, C++.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Educational Background: Relevant degree in Information Systems or Information Technology or an equivalent field.
• Networking Knowledge: Knowledge of networking, including routing, firewalls (pfSense), and switch configuration (Cisco).
• Monitoring Tools: Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
• Virtualization: Experience with virtualization technologies (ESXi / VCenter).
• Deployment Tools: Knowledge of deployment tools (Ansible, Munki).
• Backup Solutions: Experience with backup solutions (Veeam).
• Experience as a System Administrator, Network administrator or similar role

Job Description

-Provide technical leadership for hybrid cloud environment (public cloud and on-premise data centre) and related technologies including DevOps, CI/CD, Lean, and data centre platforms solutions, such as VMs, OSes, database, storage, backup, monitoring, automation.

-Strong architecture skills with ability to design and guide others designing solutions.

-Identify, test, communicate and implement emerging cloud technologies to improve operational efficiency, speed-to-market and reduce annual running cost.

-Understand business and technical requirements and evangelise modern Cloud, DevOps, CI/CD, Lean practices.

-Design cloud consumption models, processes and technical solutions to ensure application teams are able to build and deploy solutions with minimal friction while ensuring security and operational control.

-Actively and effectively track and manage initiatives and BAU activities.

-Team and people management. Manage team of cloud devops engineers in terms of technical solutions, work assignments and personal development.

-Operate within assigned budget and demonstrate fiscal responsibility.

-Define opportunities for automation wherever possible to improve developer agility.

-Explore, learn and deploy new technologies to help the company to reduce costs and improve operational efficiencies.

-Support audit and infrastructure / network security scans, Disaster Recovery and security related drills.

-This position requires periodic system administration outside of normal business hours.

Requirements

-Possess a degree in Information Technology or related fields.

-Minimum of 10 years of IT experience with at least 5 year working hands-on with AWS or Azure, and on-premise platforms solutions and technologies (OSes, databases, storage, backup, messaging, monitoring, and automation solutions, etc). Minimum 5 years of people and team management experience.

-Expert and “hands on” knowledge of AWS cloud and ideally good familiarity with another cloud provider (e.g. Azure / GCP).

-Strong analytical, project management, communications and interpersonal skills.
