At Serco Rail Technical Services, we're looking for a Data Technician based at Derby within the Digital Services area of Serco Rail Technical Services to enable the effective and efficient delivery of our documentation and data services to the UK rail industry.
Digital Services manages, stores, and provides controlled access to a variety of documentation on behalf of a number of key railway customers, predominantly using a large and powerful database accessible throughout the UK rail industry via a web portal.
You will undertake tasks as directed to deliver on commitments to our customers and in accordance with the applicable requirements, standards, and timescales. Reporting to the Digital Services Team Leader, the Data Technician will need to develop and maintain relationships with all members of the Digital Services Team and customers to be successful in this role. You will provide guidance to customers related directly to data records and accurately input and maintain all data records as directed, ensuring all tasks are completed in accordance with local procedures.
What you’ll need to do the role:
- Experience and understanding of data configuration management (training provided where required).
- High level of competency and use of Microsoft Office.
- Numerate, accurate, with a good level of literacy.
- High level of interpersonal and communication skills.
- Highly conscientious and able to deal with sensitive information.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Excellent timekeeping and organisational skills.
- High degree of flexibility and can deal with ambiguity.
