Your Role
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about improving the performance, reliability and safety of the Greater Manchester highway network.
As Highway Network Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Working in collaboration with the 10 Greater Manchester Local Highway Authorities and National Highways to develop and deliver interventions to improve and maintain journey time reliability along the key transport corridors for all road users.
- Identify issues and problems that lead to congestion and delays on key routes.
- Develop and implement solutions to the causes of congestion.
- Delivery of key corridor route assessments including development of action plans.

Who are we?
The Key Route Network team form a collaborative function of the wider TfGM Highways Team ensuring regional highways and transport activities are joined up and consistent across the whole Greater Manchester region. We work closely with the GM Highway Authorities and National Highways and a wide range of operational stakeholders and are committed to support the delivery of a transport system that operates safely, sustainably and efficiently. Greater Manchester’s roads are the life blood of the economy. A well-managed highway network is a vital part of a prosperous and forward looking region. These are exciting times in Greater Manchester with massive investments being made in its transport infrastructure along with bringing bus services back into public ownership.
What you’ll bring

You will have knowledge and understanding of highway network management including, traffic management techniques, procedures and funding sources. Working knowledge of the Traffic Management Act 2004 and the Highways Act 1980 is essential. You will have experience of producing effective business cases and presentations to demonstrate the benefits of highway interventions. A successful record of collaborative working to achieve business objectives and demonstrating negotiating and persuading skills with a variety of stakeholders, especially in a highly complex political environment, in the pursuit of positive outcomes is a requirement of the role.

The Highway Network Manager role is a permanent opportunity with a salary of £46,249- £51,576 per annum, salary dependent on skills and experience.
